Derealisation Disorder

Derealisation Disorder

I need help. I am a non-binary (female born) teenager (age 16) and I think I have derealisation disorder. I don't think the world is real and a part doesn't see the point in living or having friends or family if they're just going to disappear anyway. Basically everyday at some point during the day I feel really depressed and numb. I've read that others that have derealisation or depersonalisation disorder wake up from a dream and have never felt the same again, but it wasn't like that for me, during this year (2024) at some point I realised that I've been feeling like I see the world through a glass wall. I can see everything, but I'm not all there, and what I feel in front of me isn't quite right. I have a complicated family life that is stressful and heartbreaking and I'm a self-harmer as well. I think these are contributing factors to this feeling. I've tried talking to other people and friends about the situation but they don't understand and tell me advice that I simply can't do, and don't want to do. Please help me?

Hello @AngelPoison

Sending a cooee to let you know I read and can relate a lot to your post.

When I was young I felt similarly and researched a lot. It’s hard with complex circumstances.

I sense a great sensitivity and wonder if you also have creative interest.

wondering if headspace would be helpful for you to get more follow up care.

Re: Derealisation Disorder

@Appleblossom I do have a creative interest. You must be psychic. I actually love to sing and write poetry. As for the headspace, I have been recommended by a lot of my friends that I should do it and see a therapist but it's one of those pieces of advice that I can't go through with. I have enough on my plate and so do my parents. That's why I'm seeking free advice from people on this website, people who may have gone through similar situations.

Hi @AngelPoison ,

Thank you for sharing a little about yourself.

It sounds like you have been going through a lot lately. There are certainly youth services that may be more helpful as SANE Forums is for those who are 18 years and older.

I will be sending you an email.

@tyme Thank you for the recommendation for youth services. Means a lot that someone is even reading my giant paragraph explaining my situation haha
