Hi @hope25
welcome to the forums.
I can relate to your struggles. I too have an ED and other complex mh issues and I have really struggled to find supports that understand my ED. EDs are so complex and complicated and it’s such a shame that more mh workers don’t have any training at all in them considering how many Australians have them.
When I first sort help for my ED I had 2 seperate gps be totally dismissive of me, which really put me off seeking any further help. But I was then very fortunate enough to try a different gp and she has been so amazing. She saw me as a human, she wanted to help and seemed to know who else might be able to help. She referred me to an amazing dietitian, a psychiatrist who just happened to be top in the field of ED treatment. Community mh then eventually picked me up and there support has been a bit hit and miss, but it’s been ok.
Have you reached out to the butterfly foundation? They have a database of health professionals who are trained/experienced in EDs. They can also provide you with resources to give to your supports on how to better support you.
