Welcome and getting started

Hello

Hello

Hi. Not sure if this is the place for me. I’m 64 next month and have been on my own for nearly 8 years since I moved to the Country with my 14 rescued animals and 1 Chihuahua. I love my home and enjoy the freedom of living alone and not having to apologise for having too many animals. I like the peace and quiet. I don’t even want to say that I am lonely. But I can’t and will never get over being completely deserted and forgotten about by my family. The last time I saw my son and my grandchildren was at my other son’s funeral in August 2017. I will never be able to understand how they could just dump me and at literally the worst moment in my life. For the most part I cope okay but when the feelings come, I am as upset if not more, as I was 7 years ago. I just can’t let it go.

Welcome to the forum @TubularBelle

I'm glad that you've come across this community and that you've been brave enough to share part of your story here.

I'm so sorry to hear about your isolation from your family. It's completely understandable that you'd struggle to let go, I think anyone in your position would too.

I would love to hear more about your rescue animals too, starting with your chihuahua's name?

Re: Hello

Hey have you told them how you feel? Or do they already know that you feel this way because of them? @TubularBelle

Chihuahuas name is Soda, she’s a year old. I also have 4 Red kangaroos, 8 cats, a very senior dog and a ferret.

Re: Hello

Basically they chose my ex over me. He wanted no further contact with me so they don’t want me asking questions about him. That’s the short simple answer.

Re: Hello

Wow, a whole menagerie @TubularBelle !

I can't imagine how painful that would have been, to feel your family was choosing your ex over you.

I know you mentioned being quite isolated, but I was wondering if you have any supports who you have been able to reach out to while you were going through all of this?

Re: Hello

I’ve tried Counselling but to be blunt I’m not on their priority list. They don’t out rightly reject me but I know they just don’t have the resources.

Re: Hello

Should they need to be told? Wouldn’t it be obvious to them. They have blocked me from communicating with them. It’s more than them just ignoring me.

Re: Hello

Hope your family come round soon. Maybe if U use a social platform? Put some photos of when they were younger and needed you. Maybe ?they might be watching or some one else who might pass on link and it might just joult their memory and hay! Stranger things have changed the paths of people. Here's hoping even if you don't, something else might come to mind.

Re: Hello

Hi. They’ve all blocked me. I talk about them a lot on my Facebook which they could access if they wanted to.
