Bad head

Bad head

i forget about this place a lot. I came here because I saw my psychologist last week and I think that's actually made things far worse and my head has been rough. It's hard to explain but my best way is that I have voices and sometimes they show me pictures. These can be distressing. The voice too. I just feel hopeless because of the way forward is this then I won't survive.

@Jynx @It's the same really. Voices, well one main one, that's really not happy with me. Sometimes the oy way to quiet it is to just do what it says but I'm trying not to

Re: Bad head

@destructive mm that would be really tricky, I can imagine it leaves you feeling quite trapped.

I dunno how helpful it would be, but I found this on the Hearing Voices website. It's a bunch of coping strategies to try, maybe you could see if there's anything on there you haven't tried?

Re: Bad head

@Jynx thank you. I looked. The business one makes sense because it's harder at night when I'm trying to not be busy. And this one...

"Adrenalin Rushes: Some people like horror or action movies because of the climax of the film and the adrenalin rush. It gives them a
distraction from the voices. If this works for you then be aware that such an adrenalin rush can make it harder to relax when you want to go
to bed so you could use this strategy in the day and try to avoid it during the night."

Makes me think because I knew the last few weeks I've been watching stuff that I felt like maybe wasn't good for me to watch at bed time but I feel like I need that distressing stuff on to calm me. That would sound crazy I know. I think it's bad for me, maybe. I worry that anyway but I feel like I need it.

Re: Bad head

I didn't want to clog up this place with a whole new thread but having a hard time so thought it's easier to come back here...

I've always struggled with therapy and the last two sessions have the lead to some pretty bad thoughts/voices. Last time I ended up contacting a helpline out of desperation. I did get me through that night and things did settle but then it's happening again and I'm struggling to love like this and to not give in to what my head says.

It definitely makes it all feels pointless right. If this is what it takes to get better I dont think I can do it but I don't think I can keep living without some sense that things could get better. It feels like torture in my head.

I don't know what to do

Re: Bad head

Hey @destructive ,

Would you consider phoning a helpline again?

I hear how incredibly hard it is to sit with some of these thoughts and feelings.

Have you spoken to your therapist about what happened after therapy the last two times? I wonder if they will be able to support you in terms of what comes up for you after.
