Not doing as well as I thought

Not doing as well as I thought

Hi, I had my regular psyc session yesterday where I thought we’d just confirm I’m doing ok & get repeat scripts. I’ve come away realising I’m actually still in a hard daily battle which I’ve internalised so long I can blank it out, most of the time, and just keep going.

Today I now feel so much self loathing, I feel a burden & don’t want to continuously bring up me me me with my wonderful husband.

Hi @Downdee

Totally understand where you are coming from. I have a wonderful husband too that has been through so much because of my mental illness.

I try and hide so much from my husband, just so I'm not a burden to him or my kids.

This is where the Sane forums have been a life saver. I am able to talk to people who understand what I am going through, get the support I need and give back to others so I don't feel like as much as a burden.

It doesn't mean that I hide everything from my husband, I still try and communicate with him. It just means that I feel more like his wife now instead of just someone he has to look after.

Hi @Downdee welcome to the forum. This forum is all for you. It’s all for me as well. It’s the best place to unload your burden, verbalise what you have internalised and feel 100% validated and supported.

@Appleblossom wrote a very accurate statement on another post. I’m paraphrasing, but it was to the effect that society trains women to internalise, mask, cover up and continue on with life, pretending everything is okay.

@Jynx taught me to “sit with my emotions”. That requires asking yourself, why. Why do I loathe myself?

@Downdee this statement is a wonderful accomplishment, “I’ve come away realising I’m actually still in a hard daily battle which I’ve internalised so long I can blank it out, most of the time, and just keep going.”
I think @Shaz51 and @tyme would agree with me. Your posting your truth, your journey helps us all. It certainly helped me.
