Loss of a Therapist

Loss of a Therapist

I had to make the decision to leave my therapist, and I feel inconsolable. I can't stop crying. It feels so painful. How do I deal with this?

Good on you for being so resilient @LonePhoenix . Therapy can be draining. I used to say it felt like I ran a marathon after therapy. It can be emotionally draining @LonePhoenix I used to have 3-4 hours of therapy a day. Both individual and group. It was hard work. I think it took a week to reccuperate.

Ride it out. Ride out the big waves, and there will be a calm after the storm.

Sitting with you.

@tyme

Wow, 3-4 hours a day sounds exhausting! That must've been really tough.

Thanks for your words of support, it helps.

Yeah. Plus travel. It took a whole day to engage in the specific therapy that I did. @LonePhoenix . It wasn't ideal to have the therapy all in one day. It's supposed to be 2 hours group therapy and 1-1.5 hours individual therapy. Ideally, people have it on two different days. But because it took me about 2.5 hours travel to get there, and 2.5-3hours to get home each time, I couldn't do this for more than once a week. Hence the long therapy.

I have to say, in the long run, as hard as it was, I'm still here and it turned out to be very beneficial therapy. So the hard work must have paid off 🙂

I hope it's the same for you.
