Sick Self Pity

Sick Self Pity

I even feel guilty for feeling sorry for myself, despite my circumstance and logic telling me it's completely justified.

Thats how messed up I am.

Sometimes I forget.
Maybe enough time passes.
Usually a change of circumstance will present itself, and I will let myself hope that perhaps a change of environment, being with more positive people , and putting the past behind me will make things better.

And every time , I want to believe it so badly that I always fail to hear the universe's mocking laughter in the background.

And I so I make changes, to find in the end, nothing has changed.

You can't escape what you are. You can't run from what's inside your head.
And I don't know why I constantly fall for it. Because it hurts so much more than if i had just not tried all.

Hope is is a stupid, childish thing.
A carrot dangled before the donkey to keep it plodding through life.

And when reality hits, as it always does, that I'm just running in circles, doing nothing new, then all the clichés about broken hearts, and being torn open from the inside just seem so laughably pathetic.

I'm so...everything, that I can't even cry because that level of response is just so far behind me now.

I'd say that the best description is that I hate and resent that I exist. That anything exists. But even that is understatement.

People encourage me to try this and that, and 'chin up mate', things will get better.
I've tried so many therapies, medications, changes, routines, etc that I couldn't even list half of them now.

And no, they won't get better, at least for me. That's seems to be a fairly well established medical fact now.

Yet stupidity, I still expect or hope, that this time will be the time.

My attempts to cry feel more like I want to vomit.

I don't even think I human anymore.

Re: Sick Self Pity

Most people change so much over time, that when you meet someone you haven't met for a long time, you often can barely recognise them, not just physically, but mentally, lifestyle, attitude.

Ironically most people would barely recognise me, not from a physical viewpoint, but because everyone else expects a degree a of change to occur in people, and I haven't.
I'm basically the same scared, messed up person I was when I was 14, oh so many years ago.

God that's depressing.

Hi @Former-Member

sorry to hear that things are such a struggle tonight. I'm feeling so tired now im not going to be able to put together anything coherent enough to be a worthy response, but i wanted you to know that i am here, hearing you.

I wish it were easier to be... helped/fixed/healed.. i dont know. I've wished the same thing over and over.. and similar to you.. feel like i've tried so much and not gotten anywhere.

Anyway, standing beside you...

take care

Re: Sick Self Pity

Thanks @Former-Member

I don't really expect replies.

It's not really anything anyone can reply to.

I wish I was one of those forum dwellers who was positive and full of wisdom, not one of the ones who just drain and drag everyone down.

I try not to post much due to that, but sometimes I'm honestly so lost and confused, I don't know what else to do that.

Sure I can type it in journal or in notes, but it's not really the same, even though I feel shitty for bringing everyone down.

Even my wrong is wrongI

Re: Sick Self Pity

Not at all @Former-Member

you write very descriptively how you feel and i can relate to some of it. i havent been coping so well lately and havent been very positive either. life is hard sometimes... i'm glad we have here to connect to others and feel less alone.

You deserve to be heard... so that, here at least, you are a little less lost because I can see you.

Re: Sick Self Pity

I attempted to be strong,
And though pain can make you stronger,
Strength fades in the end,
And I simply can't pretend
Much longer.

We hide from ourselves
As best as we may,
And I always thought I could,
Until my trees became my wood,
And I lost my way.

I'm lost and afraid,
And it hurts not to show,
But as hard as I try
I can't see the sky,
And there's nowhere for me to go.

It's Ironic, in the end,
That I should be the one,
Thinking I was stronger,
Who just ran so much longer,
There was nowhere left to run.

Re: Sick Self Pity

hello @Former-Member

your words say to me that you are physically and mentally weary. You have carried self-loathing and self-critical thoughts for a long time now.

You need some rest in a place where you feel safe.

This is a safe place to chat.

we are all contributors with our own life experiences.

You might for the time being find it more helpful to ring the helpline for sane australia ph: 1800 187263.

This is listed in the top right hand corner of the page just in case you haven't noticed it.

The helpline will listen to everything that you want to tell them. Note i said "want". they will also point you in the direction of organisations that are in your state where you can get more information and some support.

lifeline ph: 131114 is another option they are very helpful also.

keep writing on here as much as you want. if you look back over my posts I have ranted, raved and dribbled lengthy pieces of indescribable banter. people might not have a clue what i am talking about but at the time of writing it helps me to get it out of my mind.

keep in touch with us all here and stay safe.

Re: Sick Self Pity

Thanks @mohil, I'm ok, I just think too much about the wrong stuff.

For example,

I often wonder ( not aimed at you @Former-Member) but regarding all people in generally negative situations ,(whether from mental illness or just bad decisions or hard lluck etc) , and who maintain a (more) positive forward outlook in/ on life, are ones who have some kind of faith / belief in 'something'.

And I don't mean just religious faith.
But anything non...scientifically founded, I guess.
I mean, I have belief and faith that the sun will rise each day, that time will continue to progress at it's usual rate, etc.

But as a example, my friend, an engineer, also an atheist, and believer in scientific method, etc, has some small,... superstitions / beliefs in things I find completely irrational as a logical person, and he even admitted he realises that they are too, but still chooses to believe them any way*.

Faith in,...friends, habits, routines, human nature, even the general belief that everything happens for reason or will all work out ok in the end.

I have faith in (thus far) scientific fact. Physics, chemistry, death.
But that's it.
Not even the slightest fair in rally anything.
Not in friends, not in being safe walking down the street, or anything, because these have been proven, in most cases first hand, to be false.

This is not an invitation to preach religion, but if anyone wants to share small,, even irrational beliefs they have (or substitute examples) that they really feel help them to get through life, I would really be interesting in seeing some form of statistics or anecdotes.

It is also, NOT a place to even slightly belittle any belief anyone may be brave enough to share, even if it's about ufo's or Easter bunny etc, because I'm asking the mods to delete this thread if that even looks like happening.

However I do wonder if my lack of faith in, (as far as I'm aware), anything strictly 'non-scientific', has an influence on my mental state compared to those that do.

I'm guessing a weighty, 'yes', but I don't have funds or resources to conduct a proper study to prove that, so...

Anyway, re: the *.
Can you you make yourself believe in things without proof or some major life event? I mean really honestly believe ?

I'd love to beleive in a god, i imagine it would be very comforting.
But I don't, and I can in no way make myself believe in one.
I can pretend. But that's not the same.

So when my friend says he realises his beliefs are in fact irrational and unscientific but he 'chooses' to beleive them anyway.... If that real belief or a form of delusion?
Is there a difference?

Just pondering.....

( Mods: if you think those questions might be a bit inflammatory, please delete this post, I'm just pondering the pondiferous....)
