D.I.D....

D.I.D....

Wanting to know if there's anyone else in this group caring for someone with D.I.D.?

We've got a family member with a very "crowded" internal world of multiple personalities. This goes along with compulsive behaviours, phobias, social anxiety, derealisation and other difficulties. The person in question sees medical and psychological practitioners regularly; it's a disorder that apparently doesn't respond to medication, and they have previously reacted badly to medications that have been trialled; I'm seeing a psychologist regularly myself to deal with the pressure and get some feedback/backup. I have a supportive husband and family, but otherwise it's hard to know how to or who to talk with about what's going on. It's an uncommon enough disorder that you have to explain an awful lot about it before a conversation can even really start, and then you run into dangerous ground regarding the privacy of the person in question.

Older Daughter's in another bad patch, it seems. The "voices" are back, and that's led to a health incident last week, and a tendon SH injury yesterday. She's had repairs done today in a Big Smoke hospital. They're planning on keeping her in until they're confident she'll be safe at home, which is good, but... Big Smoke is currently trying to rein in a COVID outbreak enough that the hospitals don't get overwhelmed... and whenever she's discharged, she'll have to isolate back home for the 14 days, as far as we understand. Y'know, going from hotspot to non-hotspot area. 😕

So we'll see how that pans out. We don't know yet whether she'll get medical transport home when discharged, or if Hubby will need to drive down to get her. Both options have COVID-safety issues. Yeep, not a good time foe being in hospital. 😞

Re: D.I.D....

Our little man also was visiting outpatients at big smoke hospital for his review.

They have the place locked down.

Had to give security guard details of where we were going and why before he would unlock and let us in.

Yeah, it complicates things. 😕

I hate to say it, but it's probably going to be worse still in a few weeks. Both Vic and NSW are saying cases are yet to peak.

Yeah @Faith-and-Hope, felt odd not having her name in the list of tags. 😞

Re. COVID

We are fortunate to be outside of the most recent round of lock downs.

Does make it tricky now though requiring to head into hot spots for our little man and his specialist appointments.

Has made it a bit more real and given more appreciation for those constantly affected.
