Re: Introverted, somewhat isolated, single but Happy!

Hi there Suess! I appreciate the " trigger" warning, but as it is a pain of such longstanding, I sort of get a buzz ( call me weird) of probing the soreness with a callous disregard for the consequences! I am mostly happy with my own company, I do have friends that I can see when I want to, they are busy with their own families.

I love my family, the ones who are still alive, but always seperate them from any " issues". I found putting a country between us has been a good thing too. It has to do with feeling safe. I tend to be secretive in ways not really necessary, but it is a consequence of historical boundary violation.

I am not labelled as PTSD but have a lot in common, I just dealt with it in a more extreme way I guess.

How was art class today?
I ain't going g to blow off your roof unless its wrapped in black plastic first to keep all those asbestos fibres contained!
Good on you @Suess for demonstrating your perseverance, especially when emotions are battling alongside each other..great to hear mindfulness is helping and I reckon there would have been at least 2 people at the bare minimum glad to see you at art class today. 1) your arty self and 2) the rest of your class!

Hey @Seuss, sometimes it is hard not getting frustrated with other people isn't it? On the those occasions I think maybe that is when I am doing some of my most important learning..sitting with crankiness, questioning my own attitude, and learning to stay curious.. Sometimes people don't always reveal their own history.. And sometimes I think personal responsibility takes a long time to learn...its taken me a while to learn that my illness was no excuse to disregard the rights of others. I so wanted to tell other people what to do..which heck, never works, but old habits die hard..I reckon if you grow up having people telling you what to do, you tend to mimic it under stress..took ages to realise it was a power pattern..ages..
Rambling again, more importantly, did you go back to the group or are you thinking of trying a different path? Are you still going to Art? That sounded like it might really be a creative space to explore.. Good to see you back 🙂

Re: Introverted, somewhat isolated, single but Happy!

Hi Seuss

My understanding is that the majority of psychosis related disorders such as schizophrenia and BPD are triggered via trauma/abuse or misinterprebable circumstances from childhood/adolescance as the majority of us only became symptematic early adulthood or late adolescence. There was normal behaviour before it that is why I believe it is entirely circumstancial to being caused by exposure to variables. The idea that scientists try to look for genetic markers etc for schizophrenia specifically in my mind is a waste of time. They try to propose this due them finding schizophrenia in subsequent generations of families but I understand it as learnt behaviours and understanding within family units, that is the only way I would suggest it as genetic.

A special mention of congratulating you on your indepence and comfort of your own company in way of life and lifestyle. I am much the same. Do not see it as introverted just no one has the vast amount of experience within my community to associate relationship status with on time/understanding basis for that relationship. I like much much much doing my own thing when I want to do it. No time to commit work/study etc. I very much understand your satisfaction with being alone as in partner but very connected within the community. I wish you will my friend, look forward to the communication of your endeavors.

Kind Regards

Re: Stressed

Hi,

I'm not childless but thought i'd say hello anyway. I do relate to your idea about family though. I have no contact with any of my family of origin. And i have very few friends. So i really relate to how people always ask about family. When it happens I feel so .... different and alone i guess and panicked because its like the worst thing in the world to answer a question like 'so where's your family? with no idea!' etc. But that is probably flavoured with my own overreactions and anxieties! 😄

Hope you can continue to develop more friendships, online and off, you sound like a strong and courageous person who knows themself quite well!

I listened to the John Read radio link you posted on another thread ...

he was saying that people have known for a long time that MI is psycho-social and trauma induced, but that the Europeans are a bit more ahead in that thinking than the Americans ... I got all excited and imagined doing a masters in Health at Swinburne... but need to be steady and take one step at a time.

Sorry that you have deteriorated since your original upbeat post ... glad to be getting to know you.
