Try Beginners Guide to the Night Sky - Australia

I had a quick look - I am glad I found it - it tells me all the stuff I read in the book I use

There is a lot of stuff you might find hard to understand - I know I find a lot of it hard - I pick up more as I go along - all we need to know is what is useful for us

You will see some off what I wrote earlier there - amazing -

To find Sirius - it is not near Jupiter - which is overhead in the evening and right now the half-moon is near it - Sirius is further to the South West following Orion - which you might know as the Saucepan - but easy to find if you look for three bright stars in a row

Thank you so much @Owlunar! 😄 You've given me excitement! What a wonderful gift! I do know the Saucepan! and I think I even know the 3 bright Stars - for some reason, in my head, I call them the 3 Sisters 🙂 Now I have something to hope for today - well, tonight; I'm really hoping the sky is clear 😄

I'm going to hop off the Forum for a bit now and check out that internet site! 😉

I will open a thread for what you can see in the night sky and other interesting info before my back makes me watch TV -

Those three stars are far to the south west atm - but you might see them - if the sky is clear tomorrow morning and I wake up early enough I will see if they are visible in the morning sky - or I can look in my book

The bright planet near the moon atm is Jupiter - and the moon passes the 5 visible planets each phase and for the smaller planets - Mercury and Mars - even Saturn at times - having the moon do this makes it them easier to find - which I should be writing in the new thread of course

I was going to write more but let's keep it for the thread

Outlander - sattelites yes - I take it you mean our artificial sattelites - yes - I have seen them - they move across the sky fast now - when I was around - maybe 12 or 13 - when Sputnik was up thered - it passed across the night sky and Dad and I had his binoculars and a rug and we were lying on the ground waiting for it - and it was so close to the earth and so slow it was easy to see.

One of my firsts - my great memories - I have so many of them
