Talking about bad thoughts

Talking about bad thoughts

Hi,

How do you know when you've crossed a line and can't return if there is only silence about bad thoughts? I feel like it is this big taboo at the doctors but who on earth should I talk to about it?? I sometimes scare myself with my thoughts and I don't know where they come from and why.

Do you see a gp or a psych? Gps can get easily scared cause they aren't trained in mental health as much. Psychiatrists are much better at coping with crappy thoughts.

Hi @Former-Member

What do you mean by crossing a line?
I understand what you mean by the doctors, and thats where specialists come in the picutre! Have you tried talking to a psychologist or psychiatrist? They will be able to help you/ support you/ listen to you more than GPs can.

Do you have anyone at home to talk to about your bad thoughts?

Take care Flower

Hi @Former-Member

My understanding is that our thoughts are just that .. we are not our thoughts .. and thoughts do not cross lines .. in that it is behaviour that counts in life, not merely thoughts, but if we have to suffer with intrusive unwelcome unsettling thoughts, its best to have someone to discuss them with.

My GP scoffed that one of my old psychologists .. wasnt doing her job .. when I said that the psychologist had put up many blocks about areas that she would not discuss .. it was really helpful for me to know that was the professional opinion .. as I had felt confused and unsupported by the psychologist.

Find some one with whom you can properly and effectively discuss your thoughts.

I have a feeling we are in the same boat. Because I know exactly where you're coming from. I would like to discuss further to see if we'll be able to help eachother?
Thank you
