Something’s not right

Life is really hard

Life is really hard

Hi everyone,

I haven’t been doing so well. Struggling since late last year but managing to stay on top of it all and keep afloat. Life is really hard. I am finding everything hard right now, both at home and outside.

Just don’t feel like doing anything right now.

Now to add to the mix, I turned to someone I considered a friend but only know online but have been friends for a few years now. To cut a long story short she now appears to be ghosting me even though I made it clear I only wanted a sounding board. I didn’t expect support as she is always having one crisis or another sadly. I feel hurt, not that the friendship seems to have ended as I think it had been headed that way for a little while and I considered ending it myself. I feel hurt that she would do that, ghost me, and not have the decency to say something. I know, people suck, I get it.

But, I shouldn’t have turned to her. My psychologist (during my last appointment) said I should turn to people in my life for support so I did. I shouldn’t have. I feel that there is no one I can turn to (I have friends and family but don’t feel comfortable sharing) other than someone I have to pay.

I just don’t feel there is much point to anything right now. Thank you all for allowing me a safe space to vent.

Hey @Keli ,

Glad you could share what you have on the forums. I have to say you are not alone. It sounds so hard to have someone ghost you. Am I right in saying you've tried to reach out but she's just not responding?

I wonder if she's having her own mini-crisis and is not in a place to respond?

Sometimes, when things are tough, and people don't feel they are able to help others, they just 'switch off' as a way to protect themselves, or probably they feel ashamed that they can't help? Who knows?

I recognise this does not take away the pain from you right now. There are people on the forums 24/7. Please know you can post here any time.

You are not alone (even if it feels like that for now).

Thank you @tyme

Yes that is exactly it but I have said that’s enough and won’t anymore. She is often having mini crises which is why I don’t often reach out to her. She often will say to me she is overwhelmed then disappears for a while, but it is emotionally exhausting which is why I have been thinking of ending the friendship myself.

Thank you for being here.

Hey @Keli ,

Do you feel it a shame to have to 'end' the relationship?

Would you consider setting some boundaries in to help the friendship, or just to give it a break?

Also know, the end of one friendship can be the awakening of new ones.

@tyme I can’t do any further boundaries with her, I feel it is time for a complete break. The friendship really is not healthy for me anyway. We’ll have some really great chats then suddenly she has another crisis and is overwhelmed etc then disappears and I worry whether she is ok especially when she has mentioned not having anything to be here for etc.

and I agree that the end of one can be the beginning of another.

Right now I just don’t care.
