Psychosis

Psychosis

Recently I experienced psychosis for the first time which involved believing I was being targeted by many people and organisations.

It’s not as bad now but I still have a general uneasiness around certain groups of people which is hard to explain.

I‘m wondering how people who have also experienced this go about making friends again or staying friends with people you thought wanted to harm you?

How do you know the difference between when to trust your gut and when it’s just paranoid thinking?

How do you move past fear and shame relating to your past actions?

Just curious but have you ever deepdived into the why's behind the thought process? It sounds like at the heart of it, you are trying to protect yourself, but from what? and if you can figure out what, how does it actually manifest into a pain point for you?

Eg you get an uneasy feeling about a person, you think about it and you feel like this person might talk about you behind your back and then think about what that actually means, and you come to the conclusion that you are afraid people will know your not perfect.. so you just need to work on the fact you are not perfect and accept yourself for who you are..

I would be keen to hear if you have done something like that with these thoughts..

Thanks for this comment..

the ideas of protection and perfectionism do make sense.. I struggle with perfectionism and fear humiliation a lot,

I think also there are things in my past I’m not proud of, I think that wanting to protect myself from those things coming out is a big part of it too..

I’ve also noticed I can be gossiper.. so I wonder if my fear of people talking behind my back is a projection of what actually I am doing…
