Re: Does anyone want to talk

I haven't been for a few years @ArraDreaming Not because I do not want to but because I haven't been able to physically do it. I need to get my back right and then build up muscle tone again. I have lost a lot of weight - including a lot of muscle weight. You would think I would have put it on not being able to do anything but I was pretty strong in my muscles so most of that has gone.

You could also propogate seedlings and sell. I often see them for sale on facebook so you could do it that way to start.

Re: Does anyone want to talk

That’s a great idea @Zoe7 never thought of that
This morning I picked 8 ripe cherry tomatos off one vine

Re: Does anyone want to talk

Oh lovely @ArraDreaming I love tomatoes (any variety). They are expensive though down here. When I have my little side of the house done and I am going to grow tomatoes and beans. It has the perfect amount of sun and sheltered from the frost so a perfect spot.

I know you have zucchinis but what else are you growing?

I have another idea for you - get a whole heap of newspapers, soak them in water to break up then push them into pots to make your own biodegradeable pots to sell seedings in - saves buying pots and are good for the environment.

Zucs, strawberries, tomatos, silverbeet, corn, broccoli, all different herbs, spring onions, onions red and yellow, potatoes and cucumbers, and chilli’s
and on our potted fruit trees we have lemons, mandarines, apples, mulberries, and fig tree

not everything is producing right now but it’s either growing, about to or we have just harvested @Zoe7

Great idea, you can also use egg cartons’if you need any tips for your garden let me know I’m happy to help

Re: Does anyone want to talk

Forgot to mention the carrot fail… my kids planted carrots too close together and when we pulled them out we had about 30 mini carrots all twisted together it looked like something evil from a cartoon or something 😳

Re: Does anyone want to talk

Ah yes egg cartons - great idea. I will certainly be hitting you up when I am ready to get started but it may not be until next spring now as I have quite a bit to do first to get the area ready (and like you, funds are tight). My Mum has some Hammerbarn gift cards she said I could use but will need more than their total amount so will need to wait a while.

I wish I had your garden @ArraDreaming but I only have a small yard. I have been doing some weeding and moving of plants but the bigger ones I cannot do yet with my back. I am going to wait until next school holidays now and ask my sister to help me. I also have one massive tree trunk to dig and cut out so that too will have to wait ...then I can do the border and begin getting the soil ready for planting later int he year.

OMG you just woke up Toby with my laughter @ArraDreaming I would have eaten them anyway - carrots are my favourite food (along with tomatoes).

Re: Does anyone want to talk

if there is one peice of advice for you @Zoe7 is if you afford it, buy the better compost, soil etc, even the next one up from the most basic basic one from Hammerbarn, a few more dollars but you will reap the benefits, also, you can do a lot more then you think with small spaces I’m telling you

Re: Does anyone want to talk

we pulled them out too early so I very very carefully untangled them and put them back in yje ground with spaces, just to try our luck because they were not ready to be eaten anyway, we got a few that survived and matured, after all that though my kids refused to eat them so…. @Zoe7
