Re: Newbie

Hi @Cutleteer

Welcome to the forums.

Others might be able to assist but I have the same problem.

When I get out of bed I try to do a couple of things. Like the dishes and clean the kitchen. It takes me a really long time to do it as I find it hard to finish it. But then when I spend the rest of the day on the couch or in bed, at least there is one accomplishment.

Today’s accomplishment was just getting out of bed for me and feeding both dogs. The rest of the time I went back to bed and had a sleep. Scrolled through facebook I don’t know how many times. Did a little diamond art and started a new Lego. Oh and started toilet tracing the pup. PS. I haven’t showered in a 5 days.

Sometimes it’s just too hard to do. If you need a couch day than that’s ok. Everything will still be there tomorrow or when you can leave the couch.

Re: New

Hi @Cutleteer I manually write a list of the essentials plus two items I would like to get done. Essentials are feed the cats and get dressed. Shower is on the list but some days is a luxury that doesn’t happen. Yesterday all I got done all day was fed that cats and got dressed, I spent the entire day relaxing and sleeping.

early in the week I put load of washing in the machine, took me 2 days to have energy etc to go back to the machine and had to do the wash again.

It’s something I’m slowly getting used to. Some days all I can do is rest and sleep, other days I get few things done.

I do whatever I’m able to do as each day comes knowing that I will gradually get things done.

Hello @Cutleteer . Welcome to Forumland.

I love it here, the Forumites are wonderful people.

My motivation to have a shower is that I can wash the bad juju off. I’m washing off other people’s bad energy. Washing a bad situation off, stuff I’m not responsible for and stuff I cannot control or change.

Wash that stuff away.

Hi @Cutleteer,

Welcome 😀 I have found an app called goblin tools to help with getting things done. you can break down the steps to make it easier to achieve. I have the same sort of problem, but I put my kids first and I forget about my needs. So far this is working for me

@Cutleteer

Remember you are a human being, not a human doing, my psyche says, “do the biggest thing you can”. Sometimes that is just expanding my arms out at my sides. Sometimes it is moving from the bed to the couch.

I think when this is happening it is really important to be kind, compassionate and really understanding towards ourselves, radical acceptance of what is going on for you right now, allow the feelings, feel them, let them pass without fighting against it.

Re: Newbie

Hi @Cutleteer welcome to the forums!

I once spent 2 years straight in bed 18 hours per day. I still don’t do much on a daily basis but I do have days where I push myself to get things done. I do spend a lot of time watching tv. I find The magic of tidying thread very motivating. Just click on the blue words to get there, scroll down to bottom of page and click last number to get to most recent page. If you click options at the top you can subscribe so you get notifications for when people are active on there. I find others achievements spur me on to do a little something of my own. Also just be kind and patient with yourself. Change is slow and gradual.

Good luck
