Relationship breakup

Relationship breakup

I’m new to this but just wanted to reach out to someone. I broke up with my partner recently. I feel like I have sabotaged and pushed him away for years.

My thinking is negative, my body hurts and I feel abandoned. Can’t stop crying today. It’s been a couple of weeks.

He checks in to see how I’m going and I think part of me chooses to entertain the idea that if we were to get back together things would be different.

In reality we are at different life stages.

I’d like the heart ache to stop.

Re: Relationship breakup

Hey @2Scout welcome to the forums, hope you find it to be a warm and welcoming community!

I'm sorry to read of your heartache, break ups are never easy and can create a lot of internal conflict even if we know it to have been the right thing to do.

Do you think the check ins are helpful for you? Or do they create ongoing pangs of pain? Sometimes we need to have a lack of any contact to help us move on and move through the grief. But you know you best, of course.

What sort of things do you have to help you look after yourself during this difficult time? Do you have some friends or family who can keep you company?

Re: Relationship breakup

Thanks for the questions, they’ve prompted me to write a list of people to visit or call.

One day at a time.

Yesterday was just a rough day.

Thanks
