It quite a long drive in from the highway to Hawkes Nest @TAB I have never been to Port Stephens.
Even though as Kid I was always up that way, from when I was about 3 years old, my parents had a caravan on site. and then we got a holiday home there. A number of years we went up there every weekend, its a bit of a drive from the CC.

@TAB @oceangirl okay this happened almost 30 years ago now when myself and my now ex husband visited the NT. We were going through a country town called Peterborough and stopped in this park to have lunch. As we were sitting there I could hear this group of young men talking and saying loudly 'how much for your misses? How much? how much for your misses?' I nearly freaked out I was saying to my ex I want to go but he was obvlivious and was saying he wanted to finish his cup of tea!! After some time we left but yes I was totally freaked out by the experience and watched our exit of the town making sure we were not followed.

@TAB @oceangirl @TAB s how absolutely beautiful. We are so lucky in Australia with our beaches. We take them for granted but we have some of the most stunning beaches in the world imho 🙂

I liked it when weekdays and not in tourist season re port stephens and other places around from there @oceangirl Sounds nice. I never used to go to beach that often. I grew up on a farm, although .. it was in middle of peninsula and discovered could see lighthouse light from from yard of house at night
