@TAB no good re: alterations. The place near me was usually booked up for up to a week with alterations. They closed their shop and then moved. After that we used to have a clothing alterations island booth in the supermarket thoroughfare. I dont think they are still there. Salvos was having a 50% off sale today. Got a City Chic BNWT shirt for $15 pp. Its a nice shirt and will match what I have. Will put it through the wash and voila! Ready to wear. I was surprised at the price as Salvos can be quite expensive paying overheads and ridiculous corporate salaries

Hi @TAB and @SmilingGecko
I hope you don't mind me jumping in here.
Just wanted to talk to someone.
I have found Salvo's to be quite expensive too @SmilingGecko not feeling the love especially as i grew up in a Salvo family.
It's amazing that people don't know that the Salvation Army is actually a religion
And fairly fundamental in fact.
I remember sneaking into the city when I was about 12 to get my ears pierced. My mother had a little conniption, telling me that girls who did that sort of thing had babies. Not sure how I was going to get pregnant but that's just an example 🙃
@TAB what are you studying at TAFE?
Good luck with pant alternations
Are you handy with a needle and thread?
Sorry I missed your gym appointment

@Taali I was an adherent (did not wear uniform) and attended a Salvation Army Temple with friends who went ahead to become officers. We used to do welfare and care for the aged. I think with any organisation its the people and where theres people theres problems. I think their social services arm is so big that people dont recognise its a christian church. I've heard strange things like dancing is ungodly and you dont require an education to get by in life, and having to be righteous to be aligned with God. That is what I heard from people in the 1990's. I agree with you the Salvos op shops and online stores are just ridiculously expensive. They are literally not accepting any further donations because the stock isnt selling. Anyway I ended up leaving and migrated into the occult. I dont miss leaving. The Timbrells were a big thing and you had to play the tamborine right with ribbons. To think that is what was considered a big deal back then!

Hi @SmilingGecko . yeah that's Life re alterations. I could have done them months ago, or years even, yet I didn't. I nearly told them and said would be wearing trackpants.
Anyway when finished gym, was txt, they had done alterations already. Was cheap too.well cheaper than thought. Pants in the wash now so dont look new/hopefully shrink a bit.
thats good re Salvos. they have bills like anyone else. but yes dont pay tax. Govt is forcing people to rely on charity , so guess they need all the money they can get. I have them in my Will. they send me a card every year and ask if I'm okay lol

Well heaven's above.
I used to play the Timbrell.
We followed all the rules conscientiously
Never dancing, not drinking, smoking or gambling even school raffle tickets
Only wore our good clothes (including underwear) on Sunday.
I never reached the uniform stage, probably because I had my ears pierced.
I agree that that they do good work
But I could point to a lot of terrible things that happened....
I turned my back on Christianity and especially traditional churches as a result.
I now have my own beliefs that tend toward Buddhism but are very personal and empowering
I could go on and on but suffice to say that all traditional organisations, be they Christian or otherwise, have some poor scruples and are open to corruption and abuse
Thanks for replying to me @SmilingGecko
I truly appreciate it.
My next posts won't be as long as this and will steer clear of judgement
I hope you are travelling well 💗
