Victory for historical childhood sexual abuse **TW**

Victory for historical childhood sexual abuse **TW**

Today is a very rewarding and emotional day. I have lots of mixed emotions.

I have been awarded compensation for the childhood trauma i went through 40 years ago and all the therapy I had done and still doing.

I have been awarded for continued payment to my psychiatrist and psychologist therapy sessions for as long as I need. i also have been paid for my out of pocket expenses for psych; psychologist; hospital excess; genetic blood test and reports from psych and psychologist. Also i have been awarded payment for a year of gym membership to help with my self worth and cope with cPTSD.

I feel, for once in my life, i have been acknowledged and validated. The government has validated my childhood trauma, they heard what i had to say; they listened and they agreed to an amount.

I will be forever grateful to my psychiatrist who suggested i start the process. A very long, exhausting and emotional process.

But in the end - today - it's been recognised and a compensation has been made. i have a voice now; a voice where others can believe that they can start the process. I now know that it has taken me 13 years to get to this point of (a) reporting my abuse to the police and (b) even getting some compensation. If someone had told me last year or even 6 months ago that i would report my abuse or receive compensation i would have said "no way"

But somehow i plucked up the courage and strength (of what strength i had left) to report my abuse, find all the invoices over the last 13 years, gather so much information for my lawyer.

I DID IT!! I am still number and i guess in shock. i am truly grateful for this compensation yet still so emotional. i need to sit quietly and process all of this.

I just saw my psychuatrist and she was so happy to hear my news. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have known.

It doesn't matter how long ago the childhood abuse happened - there will always be a case. There will always be someone to listen to you; to support you and get you through what you deserve.

I wanted to put it out there on here - in case there are others in similar situations as mine. If i can go through all this I know you all can too. Yes, its tough emotionally, but with the right support you can get through.

My long term aim is to help others; especially children. I will need to work on this somehow.

I still can't believe it; I have been heard. Validation is HUGE.

A validation that i so craved for from my parents but never got. But it doesn't matter now; because i got it elsewhere.

I hope this helps others - there is HOPE!!!

Yeah been ages since we've spoken @BlueBay and so this being the first post of yours I've seen in a while, it has me quite elated. I can indeed imagine it's quite a shock, and may end up being an adjustment period, as it sounds like it would have been occupying quite a lot of your time and mental energy. Hope there's lots of relief and joy still to come too. xx

Hello @BlueBay I could not read your post without responding. The significance of this moment for you & for all those affected by sexual abuse is too important not to respond.

We have not spoken much & I can't give any personal advice.

I want to thankyou for sharing here. It is courageous, inspiring, generous. And more, that I do not have words to adequately express.

If I could say one thing - based on the happenings of my day today - I am planning on letting myself processing all the emotions that come with 'an ending.'

Relief, victory, freedom, independence, strength, & the other side too, - the realisation of why this is a win, & the stolen spirit I had to try my hardest to reclaim. Things that no one need ever experience.

Mixed emotions.

Finality.

And with this, somehow my subconscious is showing all those emotions that were not safe b4. Anger, betrayal, rage!

Pride, happiness, hope - these are the foundations.

And, when all that crap has finally had a chance to speak, I intend on slamming the pages closed of this book & putting it away forever.

Amazing victory.

Validation

A soul that may now, finally find rest.

Thankyou for fighting. For all of us x

Oh my gosh @StanD thank you so much. I am in tears reading your post. Thank you for your kind words.
I think at the moment I’m still processing what’s happened.
I’m hoping now this will be the start of a new chapter. One long hard emotional chapter closed.

I was on here gir quite a few years and took a break this year for a few months.

I really hope that you can find peace and an end to your issues. The journey can be long but the fight is worth it.

I don’t know where I got this fighting spirit - Maybe it’s the little “me” that had to speak out because no one heard me. Not even my parents have validated or supported me 😢

glad you’re on here chatting to me and others.
take care xx

Oh @BlueBay I am so happy for you. It is wonderful news that you feel validated. I am going through a process myself atm. It takes a lot of courage and stamina. Wow you are fighter after all! You deserve it. So sad our mothers were not able to understand or listen or believe and put their own emotional needs over the truth and protecting us as small children.

Re: Victory for historical childhood sexual abuse **TW**

thanks so much @Appleblossom

yes it is very sad our mothers can't or won't help us as children

today i feel sad, can't work out why

i feel very grateful for the compensation

yes it is hard and long to gather all information together. I had to gather 13 years of invoices, information for the lawyer - but i did it.

i am trying to give HOPE to others reading this.

take care my friend xxxx
