Welcome and getting started

Hi new to this

Hi new to this

So much to talk about but to start I am new to the forums and new to mental health issues too. The catalyst for my decline was 4 family deaths in less than 2 years. It wasn't until about 2 months ago people at work started noticing big changes and suggested I get checked out. Well I finally went to a GP last week and got diagnosed with extremely severe anxiety, moderately severe depression and severe stress. So many thoughts running through my head right now. Hopefully I will learn to share more as my journey continues

Re: Hi new to this

Hey there @Karrie and welcome to the SANE Forums!

I am Amber22 and I work here at SANE, so if you have any questions at all then please let me know 🙂

I think the first and biggest step towards understanding our mental health journey and recovery is recognising what we are feeling and what's going on! So going to get diagnosed was probably a very big step, but one that might have hopefully brought you a bit of clarity too?

I am here to chat whenever you feel like it

Sending you lots of hugs

Hi @Karrie

Welcome to the Sane forums.

I'm sorry you had to deal with so much in such a short space of time.

It is good that you went and got some help. That is a major step in itself.

It's hard when we have so many thoughts running around in our head. I hope you feel safe enough on here to be able to express some of those thoughts.

Hi @Snowie it will be a case of learning what I can and can't talk about on here first. Because it's been really tough to say the least

It is tricky @Karrie

There are some guidelines that exist, I'm just not sure how to attach them.

Perhaps a moderator could help with that one.

Re: Hi new to this

Hi @Karrie

4 family deaths in 2 years is a huge loss - no wonder you are battling

The diagnosis is up to your doctor - I think though it's caused by intense grief and no wonder - you must be anxious - after all - you must be thinking "What next?" all the time - that's perfectly natural

It's very hard though - so many changes are hard to deal with - grief work is hard work and there are really no right words I can say to you to make it easier

It takes time and the support of caring people - we care here - I am so glad you have reached out to us

I do understand grief having been through it myself - not so many people so close together as you - I know the pain of it though - and I care

I am sending my best thoughts - I know it's really hard

@Owlunar2 i did wonder for the longest time if i was just being weak with my feelings and struggled to accept that it was ok that I wasn't ok

Re: Hi new to this

Hi again @Karrie

You are not being weak and yes - it's okay to be not okay - and although this is not a great place to be - it's normal

It will take time - I lost 2 very close relatives last year - I felt so lost - I missed one funeral because of COVID which might be something you have had to deal with too

One day at a time and don't be hard on yourself - you need to be your own best friend right now
