Hi @bdl Welcome to the forums 😁
I, too, have had a long journey with cPTSD, depression and anxiety. Whilst they are all pretty much under control now (I do still have some dark days), it would not have been possible without theses forums. I came here many years ago when I was at rock bottom and with the support, encouragement and care from soooo many here, I am now in a much better place. That would not have been possible without the forums and you have taken that brave first step to reach out here also now.
Whilst I have not been hospitalised (managed to avoid that because of the added trauma it would have been and from some amazing support from my treating team), I do live alone. I do not find it lonely - have my fur babies and like the safety of home. There have been many people 'wanting' me to get out and socialise more but I prefer home. It is not that I cannot do the 'social' thing, it is just that I don't want to. I find joy in the small things, a snuggle with my fur babies, sitting in the garden, doing work around the house, painting, creating, etc. I do know that we, as humans, are social animals but that does not always mean we need that in our lives. We are all different after all. It used to be a defence mechanism, my safe place, but now it is what I enjoy the most.
In saying that, being here on the forums, has given me connection and real friendships across the years - and that I am so grateful for. I hope you find it a place of support and hope as I have.
