When I DON'T feel like "having a good day"

When I DON'T feel like "having a good day"

Aw - I never thought I would post here - or at least start something - but here goes.

I have been having a rough spell with maintenance issues mostly - and my daughter is still silent - so that's not pleasant - I have been overwhelmed with this lately - anyone would be.

So - after days of being on the phone with a leaky roof, a computer problem, a glitch in my phone, a dead animal in the roof void of the abandoned property next to mine - and then there's my daughter - we are having a holiday from each other lately - at least - I need the break -

EVERYBODY seems to send the conversation with "Have a good day" - and I have been up to my neck is rotten stuff and feel this order is totally inappropriate. Whatever.

I have felt like replying with "I have other plans" - usually I say - "I will try but it is wearing thin".

I never tell anyone to "Have a good day" - I just say "All the best" - or "May your day be the best possible".

Yeah - I feel I am coping with my challenges - but this order bugs me.

Thanks everyone - for being here.

Hey @Owlunar2

Welcome to the Forums and so lovely to have you here!

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with all these maintenance issues at the moment. Things do seem to happen in waves and we get knocked when we are down. Hopefully, you will get everything resolved soon!

Sometimes we do need space from even our loved ones and it sounds like you acknowledge that with your daughter at the moment. Practicing self-care but looking after ourselves is what we need sometimes and if that's what you need then it's ok.

Thanks for being part of the community here on the Forums!

Take care

Thanks @RiverSeal

I have actually been around for years - under a different name - alas - there were technical issues and I had to start again.

Thanks for your kind words - yes - I have been overwhelmed lately - too many things happening at once - this does happen sometimes.

And self-care - yes - I have had to have my boundaries - my daughter had to be told she had hurt my feelings. Of course - she can think what she likes about me but it is bad manners for her to tell me - so - I wouldn't tell her about the way I feel about what she has said. She took it totally the wrong way and she is entitled to that. It's tough though.

It's wet and cold in Melbourne today - which is good because I can't smell the dead animal in the roof void in the property adjoining mine. It is cold though and I think I might go back to bed and read some more.

I manage though - I'm just tired

All the best

Hey @Owlunar2 I'm glad that you were able to rejoin the Forums with a different user name to avoid technical issues. Sorry to hear about it though as it must have been frustrating!

Going back to bed to read sounds lovely and I hope you enjoy it and so happy to hear the weather if helping with the dead animal next door. ❤️

Take care

Hey @Owlunar2

Had me own practical car and house and teeth issues.

Love your dry wit: "I have other plans" ... I might borrow it one day when I feel like a retort...lol

Great to have you back.

Yep about the cut off fashion ... not a wise or beautiful one imho. Hope yours does heal.

@Appleblossom

Hi Apple

Yes - things come in bunches - sometimes only threes - sometimes we get them by the avalanche.

I'm sorry you have been having all this stuff too - and teeth issues - that sort of thing is right in our face and impossible to ignore - ouch - I hope things improve.

The cut off issue - with my daughter it has not been beautiful - nor wise - but necessary. I have given up trying to explain things to her because she does not listen - I hope time does heal - I have had too much happening over the last couple of years to put up with anymore.

If it's the tech issues here - I would like my picture back - I think I need a new computer because this one is old and glitchy - but I will give it time

Thanks my good friend

@Owlunar2 rather than looking at it as an "order", maybe see it as a "wish". They could be saying they're wishing you a good day, which actually makes more sense I think.

Sometimes the relentless positivity of "professional" interactions does get a bit tiresome and "I will try but it is wearing thin" is a great response for those times! It's a much more authentic response than just pretending everything's wonderful.

I hope your rotten stuff takes a couple of steps backwards 🙂

Thanks @nervouswreck

I will tag you into my thread - you can read what I just posted -

I think the rotten stuff has come to an end - and I was totally fed up with being told to have a good day when I was wading knee deep in issues - I told people not to day that - I was having one hell of a time.

But then - after we found the dead possum in the wall cavity - it felt okay

So yes - people will say it and it has become an irritating habit - I just say "All the best"

So - all the best
