I think I’m broken 😢

I think I’m broken 😢

I think I’m broken, often feel like how much can a human take ?,

I get sick of people saying “cheer up”

”there is people out there worse then you”

”snap out of it”

and my personal favourite “ I know how you feel”

im 45 now and would say the last 18 months all trauma, PTSD, anxiety etc has come and thrown itself at me like a brick to the face.

i don’t care anymore, my get up and go has got up and gone, the once funny social me has vanished.

I struggle just getting the motivation to get out of bed to go to work each day, did work full time and now I work 5 hours a day as can’t cope with anymore then that.

i feel weak and pathetic and exhausted all the time.

why do so many of us have such trauma in our lives and others have lives that smell like roses.

sorry for the pity post but nobody I know really gets it.

they don’t understand that bad day feeling 24 hours a day not just a rubbish day from work or kids doing their head in etc

I’m ok medication but lost as to what to do next.
Thanks for reading

Hi @Anneka45

Nice to have you on these forums, and thank you for sharing your experiences here 🙂

I can hear how much is going on for you and I want to acknowledge the strength you have in reaching out here on the forums as well as the mental health team.

I'm sorry that your boss is horrible and that they are making you feel like this. You don't deserve that at all. We are right here with you.

How are you navigating through going to work with all these feelings and unfairness present?

Hugs to you 💖

Re: I think I’m broken 😢

Anneke45,

You're amazing that you've stuck with it for 10 months! Having BPD - one of the things that I do so often is AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! If I can get out of a situation I don't like I'll do it. But you've hung on, and you should show yourself some self-compassion. You're doing great, you go girl!

Please let us know how you go with the MH team today. I certainly would be keen to hear their thoughts on your situation.

I totally understand your concerns about your thoughts. I often get so scared with the track that mine take. I have to have an inner conversation with myself. I find that having a think about the types of thoughts I'm having helps. Have you done any programs, like CBT or DBT? A lot of the time I catastrophise, I think of the worst possible thing that could happen. My Clinician told me to try considering - "What could happen if things go well"?

Keep your chin up, look for the 'glimmers' today. 💜

In reference to your boss... all I can say is people suck!

It's hard enough when you're struggling with MH issues without a horrible boss to have to deal with.

What sort of work do you do? I don't suppose they aren't the big boss? Is there someone else you can go to, or HR or EAP?

Honestly, you're not broken. It's the world or the system that is. Clearly being in that situation doesn't help but when you need to work to survive it's not always so easy to find a better job. If you can afford to take some sick days (mental health days count as sick days!) you should. Don't feel guilty about putting yourself first (before work). But I also totally get not everyone can just take leave that easily.

Hi,

I do know how you feel because I have been as low as you seem to be...27 years of balancing on a knifes edge of suicide, battling major depression & suffering from IED sometimes suicide seemed to be the kindest option for me at that time.

Thankfully, I have moved into a better phase of my life over the last 10 years or so.

I remember every moment of that particular nightmare and I never want to go back ever

I might not know exactly what you are going through but I do understand every emotion and I understand the irrational thinking (if you can relate to that at all)

Nothing shocks me and if you ever need to talk, I’m a good listener

Take good care ok and hang tough 💜❤️💙💚💛🧡
