Something’s not right

Something is not right maybe?

Something is not right maybe?

So I’ve been diagnosed with BPD.

First of all, I’m struggling to get into a DBT program.
From what I can gather, my case is not considered “severe” enough for immediate intake and it’s going to take about 6mth before I can start.

Meanwhile; my partner is attempting to be supportive whilst they are probably struggling with their own (potentially undiagnosed) mental health issues; but I feel like their words and actions are triggering me. We have previously spoken about breaking up and maybe my BPD was talking then, but I can’t shake this feeling that it’s really not meant to be anymore.

To add to all of this stress; my therapist officially discharged me from their care and now I’m kinda just left with no one until (or if) I start a DBT program.

Help?

Hi @tyme.

I have no concerns about BPD being untreatable, I’m just really struggling with the current situation I’m in. It seems all doors i go knocking on are closed.

I have a follow up with my GP next week to try and explore more options.

Everything I read points to group sessions being the most helpful part. I just can’t seem to get into anything at the moment.

Are you involved in area mental health or case management? You may want to have a look at https://www.spectrumbpd.com.au

That’s where I had my treatment. @J212

Hey @tyme. Spectrum is currently an 18mth wait. Melbourne clinic is 8mth and Melbourne DBT centre is 4-6mth.

I can see you have been looking into all the services @J212 . I'm wondering if you can put your name down on the waitlist. I waited over 10 years before I got treatment. Not because I was on a waitlist, but because I wasn't ready.

What I'm trying to say is that 8 months goes quickly. You can always retract your name.

As for Spectrum, their new funding means that only those you are case managed and supports have been put in place (and haven't worked), that they can then attend Spectrum. Back when I was at Spectrum, I believe it was my GP who put in the referral. It doesn't work that way now.
