Simple pleasures

Simple pleasures

Maybe we could start a thread for those “simple pleasures” that awaken our senses, bring us some joy/relief/comfort. Might be a silly idea. Maybe already a discussion like this. There was a discussion about what makes us smile awhile back. However I can see how it may be perceived as unhelpful for many. Just my gibberish again.

Love this reminder for us all that there are small things every day that can bring a smile to our face! A few from me...

Fresh sheets

The smell of just mowed grass

My son giggling himself silly 😁

Oh I almost forgot! A strawflower I had planted bloomed today! An Australian native. Pretty

Splash of bronze. That was a simple pleasure 😊 I have to stop. Almost all these posts are from me. Im hijacking the thread now.

Poking the lump under the bed covers in the morning and hearing “no, it’s not time yet, mum” and then seeing my son’s face for the first time in the morning…

Re: Simple pleasures

Today it rains. And I'm feeling awefully weepy this morning.

I thought if I engage your thread @Former-Member

it may help brighten the skies...

Simple pleasure:

  • the smell of jasmine on a summers night...when cicadas and crickets are like castanets, and the stars like poured out sugar...

Today is moving day, and I'm already feeling agoraphobic. Funny thing, though: I am hoping to indulge another simple pleasure at some point in time: discovering a new and cosy coffee shop, and sitting down for a mindfulness exercise: the intimate exchange between cappuccino and me 😊

Re: Simple pleasures

Hello @Kyle1,

I woke up feverish today. I think I may be coming down with something.

-I also love the sweet scent of Jasmine carried along the breeze…I love and miss the fireflies arrival at dusk (from my time overseas), hundreds of tiny twinkling lights as the sun descends in the sky…simple pleasures.
I feel for you, moving is never easy. I’m so sorry you are down and the skies are heavy with rain…But moving could also be seen as a transition, from old life to new. A renewal of sorts. You may want to approach it with a sense of anticipation, of hope, of a life that awaits…a life filled with possibilities. I hope you enjoy your mindful contemplation over your coffee!

I hope the above makes some sense.
I have a large collection of essential oils, Jasmine included. I so enjoy taking in their scents. It revives me on so many occasions.
I hope this all makes sense. Good luck with the move, @Kyle1

Re: Simple pleasures

yes @Former-Member

Makes sense..(don't worry) 🙂

I bet your fever's not the prettiest feeling in the world, but it hasn't messed with your communication just yet... 🙏

What fortune to have rain on moving day, huh!?

But it's going ok, I admitt. My mood has lifted some - probably because I'm compelled by circumstance into activity...

But I think you're absolutely right: I am looking at this move serving also as a new beginning all round. Why not? ...

On the topic of essential oils, my new psych (who I will meet later this afternoon)

encouraged me to indulge with something like that as a form of self care and centering... She obviously picked up that I am a sensate type, and affirms that our olfactory system is the strongest among all our senses. I remember hearing somewhere else that it's the most immediate route to our brain, from the outside world...?

Enjoy !

I might mention aswell...if you're not averse to the idea, simple paracetamol can help take the edge off fever... Fasting, & Plenty of cool liquids, too, as I'm sure you're aware ...

Get well soon

Re: Simple pleasures

My simple pleasure of today was just seeing my nephew's huge smile. It was a very dirty, sauced-up face during dinner, but it's something I wouldn't want to replace @Former-Member @Kyle1 @Velvet_VanDetta @Dimity @Snowie
