I don’t know

I don’t know

I feel different, an outsider compared to many of those posting here. I’m a person who is so really in tune with my senses, and sometimes I wound up getting hurt way more often than not. I marvel at things that bring me joy, for example a word a phrase that leaps out of that book and it captivates me. It moves me, often to tears. A song a lyric, speaks to my very soul, the scent of say, an orange blossom carried along on the breeze awakens my senses and gives me great pleasure. The sense of touch, working with my hands, with my craft, gives me so much enjoyment. The site of a spectacularly coloured bird contrasting with its surrounds leaves me in awe. Why am I like this? I think many people probably see my posts as FLOWERY, insignificant gibberish...maybe there is a section here to post gibberish…count me first in line to sign up…seriously. it saddens me is all.

Re: I don’t know

Hi @hanami @Former-Member @BlueBells @nervouswreck @Arbie_wun

I really don't think I am an empath - however I do seem to attract people to open up to me in the most unusual places - in a queue - on a plane - at a bus-stop - and for some reason I don't take it on board - in fact I forget what that person said though I remember the person.

I did watch a long sunset one night years ago before covid - I was in Lakes Entrance facing a lake that was so still all the swans and pelicans had a perfect reflection. It was so quiet and still and the colours lasted what seems like forever - in a way they have because I somethings think of that evening in it's purity.

It's so glad you started this thread @Former-Member - our lives can sometimes be very tough - your so called gibberish was wonderful to read - thank you for that.

All the best

And my eyes are welling up …so many people have been so incredible tonight, it’s so overwhelming and I’m so appreciative. Thank you xx

You need hugs, lots of hugs. Deep breaths, hugs, and know that people care 🙂

Re: I don’t know

I’ll give my beautiful children lots of extra hugs today, @BlueBells (although one is not too receptive, for particular reasons). My husband…it’s hard. I do have a family, a husband…though we’ve somehow managed to drift apart…I’m so uncertain as to how to put it into words. So I’ll only write that it’s still too raw. It hurts. It frustrates. It angers. It infuriates. I’m deflated. But I look at the faces of my angels, and I am whole again.

Re: I don’t know

g'day @horizonI have a daughter that refuses hugs, she actually got it through to her sis-in-law by lifting her off the ground or hugging her ay too tightly. Don't get me wrong, she is a most lovely lady 🙂

I do remember she was a very huggy little girl, but her grandma, my mum, passed away when she was 7, and I think the hugs stopped then. Maybe it's too emotional for her, as my mum was very huggy as well.

Drifting apart is not good, nor easy. I have no answers, as it happened to me also. I realise in hindsight (surely has that name for kicking one in the butt 🙂 ) that when a counsellor said she wanted me into an half-way house immediately , about 2 or 3 years into the marriage, that she was spot on.

I could not see that, as I was laying all the blame on me. She could see his attitude was the issue. So, silly me (we can't always "hear" the truth), changed counsellors.

Years later I realised that that would have had him hit a brick wall and might have changed his attitude, or not. But we learn too late sometimes.

It may take a few, but do try to seek a good counsellor. My, now ex, flatly refused counselling as he considered the whole issue was me, as he was happy.

Take care, hugs oxoxox

Re: I don’t know

Hey @Owlunar2, was just grating some lemon zest and recalled your words, “zest for life”. Hee hee. And even though I have a billion things to do, i forced myself to slow down, to really take in that crisp, tart scent of the aromatic lemon assaulting my nostrils, and the vivid golden colour of the ripe fruit. And how, in the end, it would become a part of a meal that others would sit down to and enjoy (or not, as it may be). And I felt gratitude, for this sole “lemon”. Ok, getting a bit weird now. My reflection for today 🙂🙂

take care

Re: I don’t know

Maybe we could start a thread for those “simple pleasures” that awaken our senses, bring us some joy/relief/comfort. Might be a silly idea. Maybe already a discussion like this. There was a discussion about what makes us smile awhile back. However I can see how it may be perceived as unhelpful for many. Just my gibberish again.

Re: I don’t know

Hi @Former-Member

I think this is a good thread for simple pleasures - I have them all the time and my life isn't particularly easy - I certainly have a "zest for life" and enjoy events that seem random - I guess I look for them.

My gardener came today and my garden looks really good - it's nothing special - well - my roses have started blooming and this is beautiful - other stuff is well established and now trimmed and neat is better than fine.

I am no gardener - and I am not able to do the garden myself so I think I am grateful for my gardener as well.

All the best

Hey @Owlunar2,

Im sorry I didn’t reply last night, was exhausted and went to bed early. It’s great you have someone who is able to help you tend to your garden. I find the garden is such a beautiful place to be. Surrounded by nature…I find roses so difficult to grow. I try. But they are such a beautiful flower. The scent of some are simply exquisite…

Re: I don’t know

Hey @Former-Member

It just means that you see the beauty in the world, and that my friend is not a bad thing. I'm the same, I get goosebumps listening to a musical track with a crescendo of strings... I too love using my hands and creating things. I see the emotion in people's stories and I feel it too. I love animals and flowers... I just want to live a simple life surrounded by things that make me feel a sense of peace, beauty and contentedness.

There is a light and a dark to everything. Our sensitivity means that we appreciate nature, see the good in others and are kind and compassionate people.

But it also means when we hurt it can cut deep, we take on the burdens of others as if they are our own and we feel saddened by the state of the world sometimes.

I am learning to love this part of myself (I have always been a little resentful about it, as you said "why am I like this"?, I think that too.) To deny it is to deny our true selves. See look at me, now I sound all flowery too, haha!

I see you fellow outsider, you are a beautiful soul and your flowery-ness deserves a place here on the forums and in the world!
