Epilepsy and Schizophrenia

Epilepsy and Schizophrenia

I have been miss diagnosed for years. I am almost sixty years old. My latest diagnosis is Temporal lobe epilepsy and Schizophrenia. I have just recovered from a psychotic episode lasting around three months. That saw me being kicked out of home while I was in the psych ward. Basically told not to come home.

The same thing happened twenty years ago but I ended up living on the street. I think my actual diagnosis should be Temporal lobe epilepsy and Interictal psychosis. Wondering if anyone has heard of this condition.

Welcome, @Jpeg

I'm so sorry you were kicked out of home while you were in the psych ward 😢 Does this mean you are now homeless? 😢

I haven't heard of Interictal Psychosis, sorry.

An important forum tip is if you type @ and then click on a name in the drop-down box, that person will get a notification and won't miss your reply.

I hope you find the forums supportive...

Hi @NatureLover

Thanks for your reply. No I was not made homeless because the hospital found me a boarding house before they released me.

I am doing well now and just hoping that I stay that way. I'm a little worried because I don't know when things could go south.

I now believe that the key to controlling my mental health is to control my epilepsy. I have worked this out myself as the doctors seem to know very little about my condition.

Apparently it's very rare. I have to save money for a neurologist and a Neuropsychiatrist. But I am on my own with this.

Am so glad to hear that you're not homeless, @Jpeg 🙂

You sound very alone with this 😢 I'm sorry to hear. You can type any topic into the Search bar above to see if there are theads on that topic, if you like.

Could you also maybe search to see if there are any Facebook support groups on these illnesses?

Good luck saving up for a Neurologist and a Neuropsychiatrist, oh gosh, they sound expensive. 🤞
