Peer Group Chat // Celebrating Our Wins // Thursday 12th October 2023, 7-8:30PM AEDT

On Thursday 12th October 2023, we will be holding a Peer Group Chat on the topic of Celebrating Our Wins

It can make a big difference to our wellbeing when we celebrate and take pride in our wins, from the big to the small and everything between! Let’s come together to shine a spotlight on our successes!

The event start times across Australia are below:

This is currently held in daylight savings hours:

WA: 4pm
NT: 5:30pm

SA: 6:30pm

QLD: 6pm

NSW, ACT, VIC & TAS: 7pm

For anyone unfamiliar with Peer Group Chats, each focuses on a specific topic and is guided by Peer Workers with lived experience of mental health issues and recovery, &/or caring for someone with complex mental health. A counsellor is also present as a moderator to help ensure a safe environment for individuals and the group. It is a space for us as peers to share our stories and experiences, and connect with those who are going through something similar.

Anyone is welcome to join! Tagging some members who may be interested below:

Great questions @TideisTurning!

I will put in the jar completing the SANE Peer Guide program when I have completed it, so close now!

I will celebrate with a meal out with friends 💚

I’m going to put Celebrating Our Wins in the Pending tray.

I’m really struggling at the moment.

Hi @TideisTurning and all. I'm trying to stuff a sunrise, shooting stars, a rainbow and sounds of children's laughter in my jar. . . almost got it.

Think I'm missing the point on this one T T . I'll try harder on the next assignment you send me

Promise.

Best wishes to all tonys.

!!! HAZZAR It is I Glisten. Conquerer of flashing red light beeping Smoke Alarms.

Hardwired Smoke Alarms cannot defeat me! I have patience, skill, tools, and Google.

Last night I was to tired to deal with the offending smoke alarm. I lulled this demon smoke alarm into a false sense of security by pushing the test button and giving myself the advantage of a good night’s sleep 🛌 💤

8:30am came the shrill BEEP. But I was prepared. “Off with your shell!” as I lanced the hidden clip with my trusty screwdriver 🪛 Exposing its internal organs, I extracted the 9 volt battery the demon had consumed and replaced it with a new shiny long life.

Thus I celebrate this Win with you good people of Forum on this FriYAY 🎉

@Glisten Thanks for tag. funny as ever because we've all been through it. White knuckles tighten on the base ball bat as we tremble over a smoke alarm that just won't die.

Have a great day Glisten tonys..

Some fantastic Jar of Awesome entries from everyone @Blackbird11 @Glisten @tonys

All wins well worthy of celebration!

Blackbird, a meal out with friends to mark your graduating from the peer guide program sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate!

Tony, while you may have taken a different approach to the Jar of Awesome, I feel like it's still one that is valuable! What I think you've managed to highlight in your answer is small every day things that can bring with them glimmers of happiness and gratitude when you notice them, which is kind of what that video explanation got at, so not missing the point at all!

Glisten, good on you for not only leaving this challenge when you weren't feeling up to it, but also circling back to us with a small win! I feel like that was a great example of the purpose of the Jar of Awesome - making us more aware of our small wins or little glimmers, and providing a way to go back and reflect on them in harder moments.

on that note, for anyone who may need a little boost for glimmer, I'd encourage checking out the Toolshed thread here. Also, feel free to keep the Jar of Awesome going by continuing to share wins here in this thread if that's something you'd like to do 😊
