Struggling with MH

Struggling with MH

Hi, I had posted some stuff on here a week ago, but I must have done something incorrectly as i never go any replies, but thats ok.

Am still strugging with the same thing. I know I have to keep positive thoughts in my head, but it does not work. I cant talk any more to the family as they dont understand, or so it seems, they tell me to think positive and it will help. I am struggling so much with this, I cant stand it. I miss the person I was with so much and everything we did, but it is what it is, it cant be changed. They had already moved on 5 months ago, which I did not know and so my heart has been ripped out as I now realise it was pointless letting this person know how I felt, and I have just been told now, that he has been with someone ihe met more than 5 months ago, while with me. I am not a young person, and this has devasted me, as I am extremely loyal and honest and thought this person was the same.

Re: Struggling with MH

I reached out to my son a couple of days ago, stupidly letting him know how unwell i actually am, to which he said i am always negative which is not true. I am negative when there are things happening in my life that are very upsetting. I wont mention how i am again to him. Best to pretend all is ok

Beautiful day here too @tyme

@magpie4 I'm sorry your son said that to you. It must be hard not being able to talk to him about your MH.

Re: Struggling with MH

Do you have anyone that you can discuss things with @magpie4? We all need people/person around us that we can talk too. I know I save those moments for when I see my psych. I don't want to dump it all on my husband.

Re: Struggling with MH

@Snowie I do speak with my brothers and sister, however, I have exhausted them and cant talk to them all the time regarding this issue. they have their own lives to live. However, they are extremely concerned for me. I do see a Psychologist, who I am seeing next week, however an hour every few weeks does nothing for you really, except I can vent for an hour without feeling like I am burdening someone, $$$'s as well.

Re: Struggling with MH

I understand that @magpie4 I only get a hour every other week with my psych too. It is a good outlet but sometimes I need more then that. Plus it can get really expensive.

I sometimes write a list of what I want to talk to my psych about. I never get through the list but at least I get through a few.

This forum is a great place to use for that support in between appointments. Sane also has a guided service too that gives you one on one time with a support worker. You have to apply for it and it does take awhile as they have a waiting list, but it might be something you can look into.

Re: Struggling with MH

thank you @Snowie I do write things down as well for the appointments. And you are right, you need more than that time and I am glad I have found this site. thanks you for all the hints.

Re: Struggling with MH

Hearing you @magpie4 . I do that too. I write things down between appointments because I know I can't see my psych much. I had an appointment booked in last week, but then he cancelled on me. I haven't seen him in over 6 months!!!

So yes, I make the most of these appointments.

Do you know about SANE's Guided Service?

Re: Struggling with MH

Oh @magpie4 , we also have SANE's Drop-In line Monday-Friday (10am-8pm AEST/AEDT). You can call and speak to a lovely counsellor on 1800 55 1800. I'm sure they are ready to lend an ear.
