ECT

ECT

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone would have any advice about ECT and if they have had it, if it worked or at least helped with depression and SI.

I'm worried as I've heard it can cause memory problems I don't want.

Does anyone know if ECT is only a last resort type of thing or if it doesn't really matter? I've tried at least five antidepressants and had TMS, but neither has been of much luck to me.

I'm trying to work out if I can go back to the hospital as my SI and depression have been really bad the past few weeks.

Thank you

Re: ECT

@Birdofparadise8 I had a round of inpatient ECT in my early 20s. It effected my memory alot. There is still a lot of things from around that time that I do not recall to this day.

I also had it again as inpatient early this year. I was very hesitant in having it again and said no for a long time when my treating team suggested it to me. It is done differently now days and thankfully I didn’t have any memory issues this time around.

it’s not a decision to take lightly. It’s invasive. And everyone responds differently to it. There were people in hospital having it at the same time as me and they all responded differently and had different side effects.

has your dr actually suggested this for you @Birdofparadise8 ???

Hey @Bow

Nice to hear from you. I hope you are okay. Are you still in hospital?

Okay, thank you. No, they haven't I'm trying to work out what could help me. As I've been struggling a lot the last month or two. I might be going inpatient soon so I will have to wait and see what they suggest.
