Stopping smoking with bipolar

Bipolar depression @Creative writer I have just stopped smoking. Any tips on this? I am determined to quit, but am prone to mood swings. Wish me luck.

Hey @GezzaP super proud of you to have quit smoking, that is a big achievement and having the willpower to stay consistent and fully want to commit is hard but small steps forward.

I have found that chewing gum, carrying around a pen or straw to help similar movements. To help with mood swings I would suggest removing yourself from situations where possible and getting some fresh air and breathe, also using the 5-sense technique to help you focus on something else. Writing down/ journalling how you are feeling to help express the emotions or having someone you can have a little chat to so you are able to talk out how you are feeling. For me music is my biggest mood easier and helps me calm down in stressful/moody situations.

@MissLil Thanks for your encouragement and support . Plus the ideas on how to distract from the smoking urges. My urges are not too strong because of the tablets I’m taking. So just fighting the habit. I had to struggle with the habit of smoking after eating. Trust you are ok.
