BPD, CPTSD and Post Partum Depression

BPD, CPTSD and Post Partum Depression

Hi all, so I was diagnosed a few years ago with CPTSD and BPD.

Recently I was diagnosed with Severe Post Partum Depression.

I'm getting intensive support but I just feel so overwhelmed. I'm not asking about medications more about what I should do.

I had my review with my new treating Psychiatrist and I feel so out of sorts now.

It felt very rushed and I've now had a new medication prescribed. What's making me feel so uncomfortable is the side effects. Should I ask for a second opinion given that the medication prescribed can have terrible side effect for someone's mental health

Hi @Leesu

I'm Hanami, one of the peer moderators here at SANE. I'm so sorry to hear about the symptoms you've struggled with from you diagnosis. It's rough, hey. Big hugs to you. I had PND and also have GAD so I can absolutely relate. I feel that you can absolutely ask for a second opinion re your meds. I am very fussy with what I'll take. I know I need medication but I want it to be one that has the least side effects or the side effects that affect me the least. Hope that makes sense. Is there someone you can ask such as your GP? I know it's hard to get in with psyches so that may take a while.

Sending hugs

Hanami

Thank you Hanami,

I've just booked in with my GP and am waiting to speak with my social worker tomorrow. There is another Psychiatrist within the team so I'm hoping my social worker can advocate on my behalf.

That sounds like a really good plan @Leesu. Let us know how it goes x
