exercise and depression

**please note, if you have had covid, please do not exercise until 3-6 months have passed after infection, I am following some doctors on twitter and mastodon and that is their recommendation. Your heart rate needs to be as low as possible or you might be at risk of long covid.

@scruffypuffball I’ve read the article a few times, haven’t found the original research.

In general I would agree harder, faster, longer exercise is wonderful for health. Exercise is included in chemotherapy/radiotherapy. Exercise boosts the effectiveness of all medication.

Having a person who will get you out of bed or off your a** is equally important, as rest days.

Exercise is a positive habit, an excellent personal boundary, that assists self-worth.

I disagree with the idea that exercise can replace Talk therapy or medication.

Exercise will not cure neurodivergence, that could be overlooked or misdiagnosed if not for Talk therapy.

Exercise is not a cure-all, but it helps a LOT.

@Glisten "I disagree with the idea that exercise can replace Talk therapy or medication." yes absolutely, especially if you have been through trauma, the first thing you need after trauma is validation, and assistance to get out of that abusive relationship, and replacing toxic relationships with healthy ones. that is when the weight lifts of the shoulders. exercise cant do that.
