Lost myself
Hi all. Im a new member and I guess it’s come to this point in my life where I just needed to reach out. If not for my dwindling sanity then at the very least to get it out of my head.
BPD and CPTSD are ruining my life. I feel that no matter how hard I try with my therapies, my peer support worker, my family worker ( I am a sole parent to children with disabilities) that I am loosing myself and everyone else. I feel like all the information in my head has gone through a shredder and I can’t pull it together. Who I once thought I was has become diminished and discarded. Beliefs and values are now just a blur and I find myself continually questioning where my essence went.
Does having a diagnosis of BPD just mean others can treat us badly and we are the ones who have to adjust our thoughts, feelings and behaviour?
Is “showing up” to each appointment really what it’s about with therapies and case managers and psychiatrists etc?
Im aware recovery is a journey and a life long one at that. But I never anticipated declining so far within myself after my diagnosis 3 years ago. I’m on my 2nd round of treatment therapy yet everyday I feel worse than before.
I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. Everything I do or say is wrong. My thoughts and feelings are bashed from pillar to post in a never ending game of tennis where the rules and expectations keep changing.
Is this normal and will it ever get better?
