TW: New here

Hi, I'm new here, I'm a woman in my 20's. TW sexual abuse.

I'm wondering if anyone else here has a lived experience of Institutional abuse as an adult? I'm talking about being coerced/groomed/manipulated into a sexual relationship with a person in a position of power and being in that grey area of being an adult at the time. Even though 'consent' was given, it would not have been given if the full extent of the perpetrator's motives and desires were known from the outset.

Has anybody else grappled with living in the grey zone of feeling assaulted, but it not being 'technically' considered a crime?

Hey @24601taken welcome to the forums. Hope you find it to be a super warm n welcoming space.

Just a heads up, I've moved your post to a different section of the forum, where it's more likely to be seen by other members so you can get some support.

As to your experiences, I'm so sorry that you were preyed upon when you were so vulnerable. It's so awful that these things can happen to folks when what they need most of all is safety and compassion. Even if you consented, coercion and manipulation are still forms of abuse, and 100% not okay. Domestic violence, including emotional and sexual abuse, is a crime, and if you wanted to seek justice you could defnitely look into it. A good place to start might be to give 1800respect a call. You can also utilise their support for the emotional side of things as well as inquiring about the legal side. They're a pretty awesome bunch.

I hope you can get some clarity and support from the forums fam, we're here for ya 💜
