Welcome and getting started

Electro convulsive therapy

Electro convulsive therapy

After having over 400 treatments of Ect during a 20 year period I now have been left alive but with over 30 years of memory loss. At 55 I have been told that this is most likely permanent as it is 2 years since my last treatment and there has been little is any improvement. I’m caught between being grateful and being desperate. Re: Electro convulsive therapy

Wow. That is pretty much draconian treatment mate. I really don't even understand it's initial relevance, after accidentally half electrocuting myself to death when I was 13yo and ever so slowly regaining full memory. I mean, I quite literally had no idea what even grass was in the backyard.. everything was alien to me. But, like I said, after a few minutes of freeking out, my entire memory came back. So, what is the actual point of such alleged therapy? Never understood that one.

Not so much different I suppose from 'one flew over the coocoos nest' and similar, where the not-so-long-ago brilliant psychs thought a frontal lobotomy was key to improving people's well-being.

Then, you could suppose being treated with S**** [medication name removed by moderator] is just as brilliant when it leaves you half drooling and really not caring about whether the sky is blue, or even exists.. kind of like Bruce Willis in 12 monkeys.

Not so far ahead from the crusades really.. are we!? Lol I mean, it's only been about 800 years. Can't expect too much mate. So they expect, anyway...

I feel you, unknown potential friend. Many, many particulars of this existence and academic acceptance are miles behind, what they already know.

So,... mmm. I'm curious though.. why the consideration of being greatful? 🤔

Hi @Bugga

Haven't had that much ECT but have had a lot. Have memory loss too with it. Just not the memories I want gone.

Can understand stuck between the two. Yes it has helped me but at what cost.

I have been told that I had planned several times to commit suicide over this period each time being treated with shock therapy. My life was given to me with one hand and my memory was taken with another Bugga

Re: Electro convulsive therapy

Sounds n seems counter intuitive and slightly contradictory mate. You suggest being unaware of suicide attempts.. the experts apply electric shock.. then you state that your life has been saved, that you're assuming is accurate, but, at the cost of a memory you never had in the first place. 🤔

So... are you even sure you had electric shock so-called therapy, or is that an occurrence you was also informed of, without, you know, being absolutely sure!?

I have endured people insisting I have done, said and embarked in/on many journeys, but I can honestly state, as I have them, my timeline, recollection of events and unbroken ledger of activities quite strongly disproves such suggestions. But hey, perhaps I have been secretly frequenting similar experts and my livid memories are psyche implants!?

Or, I'm dead set bat s**t crazy and everything they've said is true. Logic then dictates, if that were indeed the case,.. my interpretation of 2+2=4 is false.. and the only plausible explanation is that I am the lead actor in "Jacobs Ladder".

Sure, I'm fine with supporting a societal structure that isolates, belittles and essentially abuses people that disagree with a destructive and doministic lifestyle that has barely evolved since painting on cave walls... used to set fire to intelligent women, murder genetic differences that are now accepted as the norm, disembowel pregnant women and attempt genocide in the name of an apparently loving and patient God,.. whilst, mind you, frowns on any other bypass of what is typically the majority's accepted way of breathing.

The Church has not changed their opinion. The majority are still murderous. The mental health professionals are still witch doctors. The only change is their adaptation to hide their desires and the threat of nuclear obliteration to force their shroud.

I'm also still trying to perfect the art of sarcasm...

🤣
