Re: Welcome Bon_courage and PizzaMondo

Thanks for the warm welcome @tyme

I would have jumped at the opportunity to introduce myself last week but alas fell sick with the Flu.

I'm excited about being on the Forums. I don't really know what to write here other than I have Lived Experience of mental health struggles. I see enormous value in the power of connection and collaboration. Too often doors are shut closed at people reaching out, assumptions are made and no one really stops to pay attention and listen to what is someone really experiencing. I feel some of the connections made on this Forums can help with this. I think the essence of Peer work is about using a negative experience for the benefit of others.

I hope I can make a little difference to someone else along the way. Just as I was fortunate along my journey to find someone that did that for me.

Re: Welcome Bon_courage and PizzaMondo

Hi to everyone here who is part of the SANE forum family!

I am super excited to be a part of this online family and thought I might share a little about myself...

I am a Peer Support Worker here at SANE and come into this role with my personal lived experience of complex mental health. Ranging from ADHD, intergenerational trauma, CALD (culturally and linguistically diverse) experiences, to depression, anxiety, BPD and more. My own experiences, including caring for others who are living with and managing complex mental health has enabled me to expand my knowledge and understanding of mental health, as well as expand my awareness of self, others and the world.

Things I enjoy: the sun shining through the window in the mornings on my face (as long as it is not blazing into my eyes), soft/furry fabrics/textures and textiles, the weird and wacky - such as the paranormal, horror movies, astrology/time/space and psychology.

Things I don't enjoy: loud abrupt noises, birds swooping, too much pasta sauce and not enough pasta, hayfever and allergies.

Don't hesitate to reach out and ask me any questions!

Here for you all,
PizzaMondo 🙂
