Why is life worth it?

Why is life worth it?

So I'm a pretty normal person. Pretty lucky really - I have a job, live in a good country, etc.

But all I do is work and it's really, really getting to me. Don't get me wrong - I generally like my job and what I do, but work is just all consuming.

I do pretty normal hours: 9-5, Mon - Fri. But when you add commute and preparation times it easily approaches a 12 hour day. I'm absolutely shattered at the end of each day, and most days I don't get to see the sun.

Then, on either side of that 12 hour block, there's all the chores you're meant to do. Cooking, cleaning, washing, exercise.

Then there's the weekend. That's filled with yet more chores - gardening, DIY, grocery shopping, etc. And "family responsibilities and duties" - driving people places, socialising, arguments, etc. I'm lucky if I get a half hour for myself a week.

So, yeah, remind me, why is this worth it again?

Re: Why is life worth it?

@Jlol that's a big question and one we all ask ourselves at some stage of our lives. For many people, what makes life worth it is their relationships, their work, their hobbies, their altruistic endeavours. For others just getting up and existing each day is enough - enjoying their coffee and crossword, enjoying the little bit of sun they can find, enjoying music they play or a story they read, or a conversation they have. If the way we our lives is making us miserable and giving us no joy we have to find ways to inject good things into our days. We have to think about what we really want, what makes us really happy, what we don't like, what gives us grief. These are decisions we all must make for ourselves. No one else can answer the question for you of 'why is life worth it'.

Haha jeez I have none of these things that are you list (that are enjoyable).

I do find hobbies and friends very enjoyable but don't get to do/see them becuase of all the time and energy work and chores take up.

Re: Why is life worth it?

Is it the thought of going back that is stressful? @ArraDreaming .

Do you think you want to keep that job you are in? I know you mentioned you enjoy it once you are there, but it seems to put a lot of stress on you too?
