Coping when physically not well

Coping when physically not well

I have had the flu and a possible chest infection the last week. It's really hard to look after myself when I'm so sick. Even simple things like breakfast zapps all my non existent energy.

So I need some simple tips on coping mentally with being sick. I can't go and do my regular activities and I'm confining myself to the house. I just want to spend all day in bed which is making my depression worse.

I also get health anxiety so it's hard not to think the worse. I keep imaging I'm getting phenomena or some other serious illness as I just can't breathe and my chest hurts.

I want to get through this flu safely despite my si and dsh thoughts. I know ill get through it and just have to hang in there despite it being really hard.

Oh, I feel this on both fronts
Terrible immune system over here

I had pneumonia once, 4 years ago and now if I cough once, I am convinced I have it again

I wish I had better advice but one thing I'll say is simple foods like bananas or toast are easy on the tummy and make good, fast meal replacements when you're not feeling well.
I know they aren't super fun to live off but it definitely helps.

I know the laying around can definitely amp up the feelings of depression but it's also kinda necessary to recover
If getting a bit of sun is an option, I definitely recommend it.
Though these are just thinks that work for me.

Not suggesting a banana and some sun will be the groundbreaking cure for your flu but hopefully it helps a little ❤️

Aww @The-red-centaur being sick is so rough. Do you have energy for even just a short walk? Even 15 minutes can help - keep blood flowing, give a little dopamine, plus in the sunshine you also get some vitamin D to help with mood.

And staying distracted! I got super sick couple weeks ago and decided to binge watch Game of Thrones. Or maybe something crafty?

Hope it doesn't last too long for you, wishing you big recovery vibes 💜

Sorry @The-red-centaur that you’re not feeling so well. Staying in bed when your ill is okay so give yourself permission to rest. It’s what your body needs. A little sunshine now and then would be helpful too if you have the energy and know this too shall pass. Lots of fluids and some Vicks vapour rub on your chest to help with your breathing. Your probs not feeling very hungry so little light meals just to give your body some energy to heal. Nice warm cups of tea, snuggle, rest and get well soon. 🙏🌹

Sending wishes you'll be better very soon... 🤞

(Can I ask what the "d" in "dsh" stands for?)

I saw my Dr yesterday and got some antibiotics.

@NatureLover dsh stands for deliberate self harm 🙂
