I'm hurting

I'm hurting

After 6 months of remission, I'm back in hell. On the 8th of July I spoke to my doctor about reducing my medication, he agreed that I could try. We reduced it by such a tiny amount I didn't think my body would notice. I was so wrong. After 6 days of reducing the dose, the debilitating brain fog set in, I can hardly think, hardly speak, I forget what I'm doing, the anxiety becomes so bad my arms struggle to move and my legs are weak, the depression, fear and dread are so unrelenting that I feel like i can't bare another moment like this, and that's when the bombardment of suicidal thoughts race around my mind.

Everything was so good. For 6 months I was so happy, my boyfriend and I were looking at future homes, I started studying, I started a new job. I wish I never tried to reduce my meds. I've been back at my original dose for 3 weeks and still no improvement. I worry now that they will never start working again. Something feels broken in my brain.

I have so much regret. I wish I never tried to reduce the dose. I'm so stupid. Perhaps it could take weeks for my body to build up the therapeutic dose again. Maybe months. But I struggle to make it to the end of a day without crisis. Today was close. I called triage and they are referring me to a psychiatrist for a review. I'm so scared. I'm losing hope. God please help me.

I have been in this hole before, and relied on SANE community to avoid crisis. Avoid loneliness and despair. I hope I get better soon.

@Christheart !!!! SOOOOOO good to hear from you! I've missed seeing you around on the forums! I'm so glad to see you. However, I'm sorry to hear that you have had this stumble with your mental health.

You probably know now that tapering off meds has to be taken so slowly. I've been on the same meds for years, and each taper (even a few mgs), I make sure I'm steady (over years) before the next taper.

So although I'm still on meds, i'd prefer that over a life of hell.

I'm so sorry to hear it is hard for you right now. Please don't give up. You CAN do it.

We are here for you.

@tyme Thank you for the warm welcome, friend. It is comforting to have this community have my back.

I'm honestly fine with being on medication forever, if it means I can be lifted out of this pit. It's just a waiting game now I suppose, and seeing what the psychiatrist says.

Thank you for the encouragement, I am aiming to get through every day without crisis, for as long as I can. I have to be patient, and wait longer than the depression lasts. I hope I can be encouraging for others too ❤️

It's amazing how helpful being told 'don't give up, you can do it' is. We just need reminding sometimes.

Re: I'm hurting

Put it this way...you've been able to do it before, so you can do it again. It may be a bit harder, but let's just say you are more experienced at it lol.

At the same time, it sounds like you have things to look forward to such as having a partner, settling down, looking at properties.

I believe in you that you can do it.

@Christheart

Re: I'm hurting

It just feels like every time I have a major set back like this, I get a little weaker, and there's a little less fight in me. I have to find strength somehow.

I have to keep hope that a beautiful future is possible.

Thank you for the belief !!!

I believe that you can do it too @Christheart. It’s soo good to see you. I was only going through my thread the other day and was thinking of you and wandering how you were going.

Im sorry that things have had a slip for you. It sounds like you have a few good things that have been happening in your life though.

@Captain24 That is so nice... Thank you for thinking of me. How have you been??

Yes, there are great things in my life... It is terrible to want to die, when you have so much to live for. Stupid brain. I am hoping for a recovery. Though when in the pit it unfortunately feels like recovery is impossible and evasive. But logically, it's not really impossible... Must keep hope even though it's very hard.

Re: I'm hurting

I’ve had plenty of ups and downs. @Christheart. Currently heading down again and trying to stop it.

I get that life can look great in the outside but not be in the inside. I’m sorry about the SI. It’s really hard to have to fight it all the time. It’s a struggle.

It must be hard knowing that you were in remission. It’s difficult to see the light when you are in the depths of darkness. I hope for you that you can find the light soon.

@Captain24 Knowing your on the way down is horrible, especially if you've gone through a period of good health. It's very frustrating:-(

I hope so too. Thank you for the encouragement. Recovery has to be possible again!!
