Who to contact in Victoria for non-emergency help?

Who to contact in Victoria for non-emergency help?

I apologise in advance if this is not the correct type of post or section.

I've been stuck in the house for 7 months now and am having real trouble getting outside due to c-PTSD and general anxiety.

There are no thoughts of harm or immediate danger. I need to talk to someone about the abuse I suffered in a public hospital and cannot keep pushing it down anymore. I'm really struggling with reaching out to someone.

Can anyone suggest the best type of support that I should contact during business hours in Vic, please?

For context, I am a cis-male and was abused in a

degrading sexual manner

while in a mentally vulnerable state.

TIA.

Hey @down_not_out

Did you want to chat about something specific or just general chat?

😊

@hanami

I don't know what is appropriate to talk about using this method.

I'm mindful of trauma dumping on here or other, younger people reading some things that might affect them.

I was a peer support worker myself in the public system and behave professionally.

Happy to talk about MH today

😀

It's all good @down_not_out . You can mention trauma just not go into graphic detail that may be triggering.

I used to work in the public system too! How did you find it? I ran into sooooo many issues. The team I was on were generally amazing. But there was often and thing that gave me the sense they considered me 'just' a peer worker.

Some of the OT's had major compassion fatigue.

Still a lot of great people though.

I try and see the good in all people but it was hard to listen to them at times. They had a bloody hard job.

But still..

Yes it was hard for me too. Very draining @down_not_out

How long did you work there?

@hanami

A couple of years only.

Not that I would ever talk specifics, but maybe we should disclose where we worked without naming anything.

I was in regional Vic.
