Mental Challenges

Mental Challenges

I dont know how to explain properly whats going on in my head, not like thought processes but just like mentally in general. My mind is kinda like a cave, people talk and the words get lost trying to find their way to me and vice versa. Im getting really easily startled. Sounds that typically wouldnt be loud seem to take over and become all I can hear. Like its deafening. I get hyperfocused on random things, like a sign or my tablet. I just stare at it and its all I can see. There is a weird emptyness, like nothings happening, which is really odd for me, my brain is always going but for long stretches its just nothing. My decision making is really poor, so much so that I am avoiding having to make any. Having done a little reading it would appear to me that this might be due to the opiod induced constipation, this might be preventing the proper absorbtion of my medication.

Re: Mental Challenges

Hi @ClockFace

Thank you for sharing about what's been going on for you 💛 :yellow_heart

It sounds like you are trying to juggle through it all!!

It's great that you have done a bit of reading to find out what's going on for you! Dr Google always helps me.

I'm wondering if a visit to the GP is something you will consider?

Sending you so much gentle and fluffy light to get through this,

Re: Mental Challenges

Hi @ClockFace,

Your symptoms sound similar to what I experience when I am overwhelmed or stressed. Sometimes I get overwhelmed by a single trauma trigger, other times by a combination of stressors - like having lots on my to do list, little sleep, and unresolved emotional conflict.

I love your description of the mind being like a cave - great imagery for how I feel when I can hear people speaking but can't process what they are saying.

Being easily startled, hyperfocussed & having difficulties making decisions are all signs for me to stop and try to work out why my brain is overloaded at the moment. Sometimes I can identify some stressor/s that I can remove or reduce - like having some food, or moving to somewhere quieter. Sometimes it helps me to write down my to do list, as I find that it takes up so much emotional energy to keep my list in my head - then I can pick my priority item/s and allow myself to put off the other things till another day. Sometimes I just need to allow myself to do nothing but self care and just recharge my emotional battery so I am able to think again.

Do you think you might be experiencing more stress than normal for you? Is there some way you can help your mind to reduce this stress so it can function better?
