Thick with the ‘tism – ASD Social Space

Howdy forums fam, it’s your pal Jynx here to start up a new social space specific to folks with Autism Spectrum Disorder. ASD is often marked by unique styles of communication, unique life challenges, and unique perspectives on the world, so I figured it would be awesome to have a space for us to come together to share/chat/support each other!

This space is open to all who identify as autistic, including those who suspect they might be autistic but haven’t gotten a diagnosis, or want to explore the experiences and insights from other autistic folk to understand lived experience of ASD a bit better.

Allistic (non-austistic) members are also welcome, but please do remember to centre the voices of our autistic members and respect their lived experience. We’re not here to debate autism, we’re here to connect in a safe space.

To kick off the conversation I’d like to ask about everyone’s special interests! Mine is D&D – feel free to ask me about it and I’ll talk your ear off!

I haven't thought much about my Autism Diagnosis, in the past week or so.

It's okay, I will educate myself some more (at some point) about what that means for me etc.

I had major Computer issues, bought new Computer - Then new computer was not set up right & was missing all my essential files (after paying all that $$).

Then I lost my Job last Friday (just 5 days ago) - Because Employer said he was only interested in receiving the Wage Subsidy (from Fed Gov) for having me.

He had no interest in giving me an on-going Job (continuing) after the Wage Subsidy period (3 months) ended.

So am in a bit of shock still, especially being so close to Christmas.

$$ is now very tight - Just when I wanted to buy Hamper Presents & send to Mum & all my Brothers.....

Hi @Jynx I just saw your response through my email notifications just now and I want to say thank you so much for referring me to here. I may have came across this space a while ago before but have never paid any attention to it nor have I've felt the need to come onto this space haha 🙂

And now I'll be actively using this space to interact on here too from now on.

Yeah, so I have a session with my peer worker from SANE tomorrow evening and I'm kinda looking forward to it. I'm also lowkey looking forward to volunteering tomorrow morning, even though tomorrow's gonna be hot again as always -.-

Oh nice, it's always good when we feel like we can look forward to sessions hey!! And what do you do for volunteering? I feel you may have spoken about it before but of course the sieve I have instead of proper memory is broken again 😅
