New year, new me!

New year, new me!

What a day...

I work in financial services, and my company had a party today for end of financial year. They brought El Jannah, charcoal and fried chicken.

I stayed back for an hour after work talking to everyone. They mentioned they were going to buy a tonne of drinks and sure enough, when I went to get a Coke, about five bottles of wine almost fell and there was a LOTT of beer in the fridge. Obviously, that's not all for tonight. I thought I was going to have a few, I ended up only having two. I brought it up in conversation, how I don't like to drink because it doesn't mix very well with my personality. I have a very enthusiastic, addictive personality sometimes, and that doesn't lend itself well to moderation.

I said to my family that I was going to stay back. They called me a couple of times, with my sister in the background saying that I don't need to stay back for a party, but she doesn't go out much anywhere. They less than support going out after work. I went to the cinema after work one night and my family looked at me like I was crazy, like why not the weekend or after I've gotten home and gotten dressed or whatever. It's perfectly normal behavior... and then they ask why I don't go out to a live game since I love sport so much. Because they're all at night and I get just a little bit of pushback when I go out.

Just last night, my family said I should take the train home instead of the bus, because it takes a long time for me to go home. They ask me why I was late. Like you have to pack up, leave, walk to the bus stop, wait for the bus, wait for it to get there and then walk the rest of the way home. It takes a while, what do you want from me LOL?

Has anyone else had that experience? Maybe it's a cultural thing.

Work itself today was really stressful for a little bit just before lunch. Something happened at work today, but A) I need to go into a bit of detail about the nature of our industry, which will give away my job/identity and B) it's so potentially triggering that I might bring it up in a SANE phone call instead. I'll think about posting it when I get home.

I genuinely thought of leaving early, because I thought "I need to get out of the [...] building for a second while they talk about it".

It was driving my anxiety up the wall just being there. It was only one call, the rest of the day was OK, but hopefully it's not an indication of what I've got myself in for.

Really looking forward to this weekend, playing with my nieces and nephew.

I have found a book. In fact, 9 books. I'm going to ATTEMPT A Song of Ice and Fire. When I found Game of Thrones 1 at the library, I took it as a sign. I hope you guys have a lovely weekend... oh, and HAPPY [...] FINANCIAL NEW YEAR!!!!! LOL.

Happy New Year to you @florencefifty !

It just hit me a short time ago that it's the 30th June LOL.

No wonder there were so many people at the shops.

Thanks for sharing your day with us. Sounds eventful.

Re: New year, new me!

@Former-Member , I like the weight scales to go anti clockwise too but at my age I don't think it is going to happen

Re: New year, new me!

Argh.... I won't even go near the scales I reckon @Shaz51 @Former-Member @florencefifty - come to think of it, I don't think I have any at my current dwelling. I think I left them in my old house....

Far out. I've moved out for 8 months now, and I still haven't moved the stuff out of my other house... I moved out in summer so I've only got summer clothes with me. All my winter clothes are at the old house.

Maybe my new years resolution is to clear out the other house so maybe people can live in it lol.

Hi @Shaz51

I do not know or need to know your age but after posting l was thjnking, the young ones may wonder what l mean.

Digital!

Like today they said it is the first time young ones had to queue for tickets.

That is for Taylor Swift.

I used to queue for footy finals many many years ago.

I think many share our resolution for a few weeks.

Hi @tyme

That sounds like a great resolution.

Who knows what else you find with the clothes.

Summer clothes now? Wow.

I hope @florencefifty shares.

@Shaz51 did.
