Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Longest night of the year and the darkness and coldness have really hit. Things seem really bleak. I've been struggling for a long time and was pacing myself to this point but can't see beyond it. I'm safe but despairing. I'm trapped in a vortex of family dysfunction from earliest years and emotional pain, received and (mea culpa) inflicted. I can't help my closest sibling - all others are estranged - and I don't seem able to extricate myself from personal difficulties and dilemmas that at present ďefine me - I have no connections or other identity. I've lost faith in my mh team.

I guess the sun will rise tomorrow, and I'll keep taking one day at a time, but I can't envision a future, my future.

Re: Winter solstice

@AuntGlow re surgery I was referred for a problem but it resolved medically without surgical intervention, a big relief as it was quite a worry.

There's a question mark over the EMDR, I think I'm too much for the psychologist.

Family interactions are so unpredictable and worrying for me, but I long for connection and reconciliation. Perhaps I have some BPD or ASD traits, perhaps family do, perhaps we all do. I don't know how to reach out to wider community as previous attempts have failed.

There've been so few glimmers lately. A smile and a friendly word at the pharmacy today. Fresh red papaya with lime juice tonight. Overshadowed by disappointments.

Midyear goal is mundane, to feel at home.

Yay! Sending best.wishes @NatureLover my friend.

Hope you didn't succumb to an asthma cough.

I've been very blue and need to get back to goal setting.

Re: Winter solstice

I can't post on your hoarders thread.

Did you decide to go with your old GP @NatureLover ?

I haven't changed my phone yet. Depression paralysis. I'll get there. Bit scared tbh.

Re: Winter solstice

Hi @Dimity , so pleased we both seem to be able to post on your thread here! I can't seem to post on my Hoarders thread either.

Thanks for asking about my asthma cough post-cold. By some miracle it hasn't shown up! That's never happened before. The respiratory specialist said the new 3-in-1 preventer would help with colds, but I am still very surprised and also delighted at the effect. I nearly swopped off the new preventer as it tastes bad, but I'm glad I didn't.

I drove to the new clinic where my old GP went, and I didn't like the drive, the parking or the clinic. So I'm staying at the old clinic with a new GP, and I'll see how that goes. Plan B could be the old doctor at the new clinic if necessary.

I also find new phones scary, so I don't blame you at all for putting it off.

I really hope we can get back to our daily connection posting on your Solstice thread here.

Thinking of you and hoping you feel less in crisis very soon ❤️ When do you see your psychologist next?
