Winter solstice

Winter solstice

Longest night of the year and the darkness and coldness have really hit. Things seem really bleak. I've been struggling for a long time and was pacing myself to this point but can't see beyond it. I'm safe but despairing. I'm trapped in a vortex of family dysfunction from earliest years and emotional pain, received and (mea culpa) inflicted. I can't help my closest sibling - all others are estranged - and I don't seem able to extricate myself from personal difficulties and dilemmas that at present ďefine me - I have no connections or other identity. I've lost faith in my mh team.

I guess the sun will rise tomorrow, and I'll keep taking one day at a time, but I can't envision a future, my future.

@Dimity

A theft is often an unexpected whack on mood levels. Hope you navigate the practicalities and feelings of it. Sorry it happened.

Hospital tests are confusing for most of us, and probably a few in the field as the knowledge base is growing. An epidemiologist told me it was all about knowing which tests to ask for ... beyond the standard ones.

Trust and abuse of trust, and who to trust ... ?? Wish I knew!

Hearing you about ... how personal "difficulties" can be a result of trauma and abuse. (and so not personal, but psychosocial). Othering, Labelling, Mental Ill health maybe a way of denial of causes, being put into too hard basket, and all that.

I dont think I would be alive if I had not accessed medical/clinical supports in various ways over the last 30 years. However, now I have survived my divorce and separation, the raising of children, and am less pressured by commitments, my need for them is less. Finding a balance among it all is not easy.

We are slowly coming through the coldest part of winter. Hope the hyacinth and coming spring help lighten your burden.

Sorry to hear about the expensive theft @Dimity - just what you don't need, another blow to your finances! 😢

Hoping your overwhelmed feeling eases soon... 💚

@NatureLover I'm a bit lost at the moment and not sure what helps. I thought I was due for a mhcp in May but my gp said to ask her in July. She was away then. I asked again this week and she said I'm not eligible until the end of October. I guess I should have a major declutter and try to find my copies of the last ones... both the plan and the supplement. It's like struggling in quicksand, the harder I try the worse it seems to get.

So sorry to hear, @Dimity 😢

I hope you can find the old copies of your MHCPs.

What can we do - anything?? 💚

Re: Winter solstice

Thanks @NatureLover I really appreciate your replies... that's how you help. I'll try to get back onto the hoarding and decluttering threads to start again. I looked at some goal setting and progress chart apps but none quite suited. Sharing with you and others does make a difference.

I just came in from my walk. That's something else that keeps me going.

I'm glad, @Dimity ...and you help me likewise.

I agree, getting out for a walk in nature brightens me up too.
