My life feels like it's just a combination of fear and work.
I get up at 7 each day, commute to work, work and come back home around 7. After which I am so tired I'm a zombie.
I can't unwind. If I do anything I actually want to do in the slithers of time between work I get told by my partner that I'm "wasting time" or "should be doing something more important" or "ignoring" her. As soon as she makes one of these claims, the night is ruined - her anger snowballs and snowballs and will go out of control.
So I don't do anything at home except chores because that's the easiest way to avoid setting her off.
Now that doesn't mean I get away with it. If she's in a bad mood I'll still get in trouble for something - anything. And then there's all the stuff I just vaguely mess up because I'm human - accidentally forget to clean a plate, accidentally knock something over, miss a spot when I'm mopping the floor, etc. This is another way to set her off.
I'm legitimately afraid of this because I really don't have the energy to cope with the unreasonable, extreme and illogical anger, being so depleted from work and not really having any other friends or people in my life.
So, yeah, life is work and when its not work its chores to avoid being made to feel like the worst person on the planet.
And yeah, I've talked to psychologists and counsellors about it. Their input? "Just leave the relationship". Yeah, like it's that easy. Go where? Live in the car? What about work? What about my finances which are all intertwined? What about my belongings? Clothes? Showers? Hell, how do I even iron my shirt for the office when you're sleeping in a car?
One thing I know about psychologists is this: they're rich. They charge $250+ an hour, so of course they are. They live in a different world where money can solve most of their problems. "Why don't you rent somewhere else?", "Why don't you hire a lawyer?". Yeah mate, sure, sure.
Until they get back down to reality, I've decided they don't deserve any more of my money. They've taken enough of it. Probably close to tens of thousands over the last 20 years. I hope they're happy with it. Put it towards their 3rd investment property. Maybe a lovely little trip to Europe. Maybe spring for that metallic paint on the new Tesla. Good on ya guys.
Meanwhile, I'm still here with all the problems they were meant to help me with.
