Something’s not right

I won’t lie, I’m exhausted.

I won’t lie, I’m exhausted.

Ever since I started this new job, something has been off. I need to work out what it is, and put a stop to it.

On the way home, I have felt actually nauseous. Apparently there’s a thing called cyber sickness. It’s a type of motion sickness caused from doing computer work, where you’re watching the mouse go back and forth and seeing a bunch of pop-ups and notifications. Maybe that’s it.

I have also felt tightness in my chest and shoulders. Maybe that’s where the trouble is. My ankle hurts, are my shoes too big? Am I not sleeping enough? All of the above?

I’m a wee tad bit scared. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. It’s only the second week. Have you felt this before, where you’re just so tired even though not much has happened? Is it just a matter of getting used to it? I’m a little rusty, I haven’t worked since April 11 and I was wearing freaking Skechers that day, so ankle injuries were not a problem LOL.

I’m also emotionally exhausted. I need to stop posting and come back when I can better articulate THAT part, because it is a mental health forum after all. Like what the […] happened to me in a week? Like I’m CERTAINNN someone in the audience has felt that way before, do you have a better insight as to where this kind of feeling comes from? Just being “off” and it really concerning you, probably out of proportion?

I apologise to the whole audience that you had to witness this from someone who’s usually not a bad writer, I promise.

Hi @florencefifty

I read your post and sorry no one replied with experience.

I have limited but will see.

I agree we need to work out what triggers events. We may not change the event, but we can learn to cope as best we can.

Computer work. I wear multi focal glasses. Glasses take time to get used to screens. Not sure if you wear glasses.

If not, maybe screen zoom needs adjusting. That can be done. Not sure.

Chest, shoulders, ankles, sleep. Maybe tension from anxiety. I had all those issues in my peak. The worst part was mouth. I was at the dentist all the time. The excessive stress caused me so much teeth trouble.

2nd week. Maybe nothong wrong with you. I think it can take months to settle. By the time you know the good from the bad etc. Workplaces can be competitive places.

Emotional exhaustion. I am with you there. Find something soothing. Maybe good music choice. No talk back radio for me. I had enough issues.

At my peak l had some of your things.

I hope you continue to post.

Re: I won’t lie, I’m exhausted.

Hello

Please take care. Starting a new job is very exhausting even into the second week, it takes a month or more to get used to the new routine, so don't be to hard on yourself.

We I started a new job I would be in bed by 7pm because of all the new things I was learning, if it goes longer than after a month see your doctor and have a talk to them.

This is really normal for someone starting a new job.

Take care

Kind Regards

Phantom

Not much to add @florencefifty , but would second/third the opinion not to worry too much so early into a new job.

Take it easy (as much as you can) and good luck with it!
