Another failed relationship

Another failed relationship

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here I go. About 2 and a half years back I had a breakup from a partner of 9 years, It hit me really hard. The thoughts that were always there before, the ones of not being worthy, or too damaged to love all came flooding back. Fast forward to 9 months ago, I met a girl gaming online, and we seemed to hit it off. I fell head over heels in love again, she too had BPD(Untreated). I had just completed my DBT around the time we got serious, and things were feeling great. But something about her didn't seem right, I felt I couldn't trust her. I was constantly ghosted, blocked and deleted for some tiny issue. Which all fed my trust issues even more over time. I tried to get some open dialogue going with her, but every time I brought up something serious I was simply ignored and the topic was changed. As of a few days ago, I found out that she had in fact being lying to me. I had to dig for the information sadly, but I figured it was better to know the truth than to continue being hurt and strung along. She had also been messaging, many others behind my back I'm pretty sure. Now she has blocked me on everything, and hates me for what I have done. Me being the soft, caring, needy, desperate person I am, still said sorry and wanted her back in my life. But she has no interest in this, I guess my use has run out. I'm now left without friends(I'm very introverted mainly meet friends online in games), and heart broken. Even after all that, I'd take her back in a heart beat. I had quite a bad episode with my bpd last night, due to all this going on. Now I'm left wondering if this is the only type of relationship I can ever find, am I simply better off on my own. Cause all I seem to do is ruin relationships, with my insecurities, and desperate nature. I don't think I can take being hurt by people anymore.

Any opinions appreciated.

Re: Another failed relationship

Hey there @ThatGuyBPD ,

Welcome to the forums. Good on you for reaching out. It certainly sounds like you have done your very best to better yourself so that you could move on in life.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been placed in a situation whereby you feel insecure. Having BPD often means there is a hypersensitivity always there. This can be very helpful in that it makes you a more compassionate and zealous person. However, it can also have a down side in that you 'know' people better than others and can 'feel' when something isn't right.

Whatever it is, please don't lose hope. When you find purpose and meaning in life, people will gravitate towards you. I know that because I'm in that position. Having BPD, I always saw myself as anti-social and had no hope of making even a friend. However, through MBT treatment, I have the most amazing life now. There are people always wanting to be around me, and if anything, it's me that tries to get away so I can have some 'alone' time.

BPD takes you on an amazing journey. You get to find out so much more about yourself and others, just by having BPD.

Keep holding on. There IS hope. Continue to find things that are meaningful for you. This will help you thrive. One unsuccessful relationship doesn't mean it will be doom and gloom forever.

Thank you so much for posting. I see your honesty and transparency through your post.

Well done on bettering yourself!

How would I go about seeking mbt? Any info would be great.

Re: Another failed relationship

It's quite an unknown therapy @ThatGuyBPD . I did mine through Spectrum Victoria. It was for 18 months - twice a week, about 3-4 hours in total. I was a huge commitment, but it paid off.

When you had DBT, did you have group therapy too? I found MBT group therapy the hardest, but the most beneficial.

Re: Another failed relationship

Mine was a 6 months group dbt skills. I learnt some good skills, but I find when a major crisis hits and it's seems like the end of the world to me I fold over and have no fight in me. I struggle to access the skills before breaking point. And now I'm all cried out, I'm petrified to face any people, and the outside world. After the probable path of destruction I have left. it's very hard at times to not simply feel like a burden to every person I cross paths with. Hence me feeling the need to just stay away from people now.

Re: Another failed relationship

I say this cause I am aware of the damage I for sure caused during the final moments of our relationship. When the panic hit and I went into a state of raw emotion the feeling of losing her drove me to say and do some bad things for sure. I'm riddled with guilt.
