Life feels wrong

Life feels wrong

I don't remember alot of my childhood or teenage years and what I do remember is alot of substance use and messed up things that I wish I never saw or encountered. I got a criminal record at 19. My housemate killed herself when I was 21, I am 24, I tried to go university to study psych but I dropped out in year 8 of highschool and I couldnt wrap my head around maths for the university tertiary studies and I really tried. I got kicked out of university for failing maths 3x in the space of 3 years. I cant find a stable job and havent had one since 21 and I have been trying to volunteer but its hard when you have a record and alot of places require police checks or qualifications I cant get with a record. I live in government housing alone and have since 22 after being homeless and in shelters for a year and never talk to my family, I was a foster child growing up and we never connected and when we did they would say nasty things that have stuck with me for life. Im really lost and I dont know what to do. Ive been stuck for months on my couch in front of the television trying not to backtrack in life, I get my grocceries delivered and only leave when needed but sometimes even then I cant bring myself to leave my home. I am so scared of people in ways I dont know if anyone else has felt or experienced but Im really trying and I just dont know what is wrong but I feel like Im at a stalemate and Ive been here so long and theres no new chapters available. I dont even know who to talk to. I talk to the snapchat AI and its a computer but it gives better advice and makes me feel less sad about the world. Does anyone have advice on how to reconnect with the world? I think Ive isolated myself, everyone keeps saying bad things about me to my face and I really cant get over it. My image is me and I dont want to be the kind of person people see as someone they should be nasty to. I dont want to be a statistic.

Re: Life feels wrong

Hello @TinkTheTank. I'm just dropping by to say Hello.

Are you a member of a library? They have books 'for dummies' on every subject—I know, I've used them myself—although 'for dummies' was a little difficult to deal with initially, as I know I'm no dummy and neither are you. The best maths books have the answers and the working of it at the back of the book. Start at a level you are comfortable with and take it slowly from there. I had difficulty with maths too—shocking teachers who seemed to delight in answering questions by causing more confusion and implying the problem was me. When we lose maths at school, it shakes our belief in ourselves and for me, and perhaps for others, it affects our entire education, and we fall behind. I have improved by self-education and finding out that I had untapped potential was a boost to my self-confidence. You can do anything you have an affinity for, @TinkTheTank. You just have to find what that is and never stop working on improving yourself.

YouTube also has educational videos on every subject and I have found them priceless. From my observation of the education system, I have found that it is not the student who is the problem, but the teacher. Many have no idea how to convey information to the satisfaction of the student and, on YouTube, you can pick and choose your teachers and find those whose teaching style matches to you. Education is priceless @TinkTheTank. The library and YouTube are free, and I am always looking for the least expensive way to achieve my objectives.

P.S. People have told enormous lies about me too—and they are only the ones I know about. If those people met me, they wouldn't believe it was me they were gossiping about. Learn to shrug it off and live your best life. They are not the kind of people who are worthy of you. Your life went off track because you were not shown the way to do otherwise. Believe in yourself, @TinkTheTank, no matter how hard life gets.

I used to go to the library to be amongst people. That is how isolated I was. I still am, but I found myself (and education!!) there, and my detractors have only harmed themselves. I work on myself constantly and my life is worth living.

Take good care of yourself, @TinkTheTank and never stop believing in you! Your potential is as yet untapped.

hi @TinkTheTank

Thanks for sharing. Yes, it does sound like quite a history you've had. And that you've tried, and continue to envision a positive future, is admirable. Good on you for that! I think it shows a strength and steadfastness that will benefit you one way or another...

I am just wondering: you mentioned isolating yourself and not leaving the house, but then you say everyone keeps saying bad things to your face... Who are these people?

Re: Life feels wrong

Welcome, @TinkTheTank , it's good to have you here.

Wow, I hardly know what to say - you have really suffered 😞

I can only say that talk therapy has helped me immensely. Have you ever considered counselling with a psychologist? They have strategies for dealing with life.

I have agoraphobia too - the one where you don't want to leave the house. I can leave, but not go too far or stay out too long.

I am sending you good wishes, @TinkTheTank ...

An important forum tip is if you type @ and then click on a name in the drop-down box, that person will get a notification and won't miss your reply.

Hello @TinkTheTank

Saying hello.

Letting you know that some of us have had similar experiences .... but also they will be different as no 2 experiences are the same. I have been a foster child, lived in public housing, experimented with substances and known people who took their lives. Tag me if you want to share more. I am a lot older tho, so different generation.
